Program accomplishments

  • IN THE FISCAL YEAR JULY 2024 - JUNE 2025, WE CONTINUED OUR PARTNERSHIP WITH THE DURHAM ARTS COUNCIL. WE CONTINUED OUR TUITION ASSISTANCE PROGRAM AND MALE MERIT SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMS. OUR PERFORMING COMPANIES ATTENDED CLASSES AND PERFORMED AT BOTH THE UNIVERSITY OF NORTH CAROLINA SCHOOL OF THE ARTS FESTIVAL OF DANCE IN WINSTON-SALEM, NORTH CAROLINA AND REGIONAL DANCE AMERICA NATIONAL FESTIVAL IN MEMPHIS, TENNESSE. OUR COMPANIES AND STUDENTS FROM OUR SCHOOL MOUNTED TWO FULL-LENGTH BALLETS: THE NUTCRACKER AND CINDERELLA. IN ADDITION, WE PERFORMED A VARIETY OF CHOREOGRAPHY FROM OUR REPERTOIRE FOR OUR DONORS AND SUPPORTERS AT THE PSI THEATRE AT THE DURHAM ARTS COUNCIL. IN COLLABORATION WITH THE CHAPEL HILL SERVICE LEAGUE WE HOSTED A TOY DRIVE WITH A PERFORMANCE TO RAISE AWARENESS AND FUNDS FOR THEIR ANNUAL CHRISTMAS HOUSE. WE PERFORMED A PARKING LOT HOLIDAY-THEMED PERFORMANCE FOR THEM. IN ADDITION WE WERE A DROP OFF LOCATION FOR GENTLY USED PROM DRESSES FOR CINDERELLA'S CLOSET, ANOTHER DRIVE MANAGED BY THE CHAPEL HILL SERVICE LEAGUE. THROUGH THE CAROLINA THEATRE'S ARTS DISCOVERY PROGRAM FOR NC SCHOOLS, WE STAGED AN HOUR LONG INTERACTIVE STAGE PRESENTATION "THINGS WORK BETTER WHEN WE WORK TOGETHER" USING THE DANCERS AND MEMBERS OF THE ORCHESTRA AND THE NUTCRACKER PRODUCTION TO EXEMPLIFY THIS CONCEPT AS WELL AS DANCE APPRECIATION AND HISTORY, AND MUSIC AS DANCE APPRECIATION AND HISTORY.
