Mission

STRENGTHENING THE AFRICAN FAMILY IN OUR SHARED BATTLE AGAINST HIV/AIDS AND POVERTY

990 for the year ended December 31, 2025

Program accomplishments

  • JOY CHILDREN'S VILLAGE ORPHANAGE IN 2025, WE SUPPORTED, WITH HOUSING, FOOD, CLOTHING, MEDICATION, AND EDUCATION, 59 CHILDREN THROUGH THE JOY CHILDREN'S VILLAGE. WE WELCOMED 6 NEW CHILDREN IN 2025. THE CHILDREN ARE CARED FOR BY 4 HOUSE MOTHERS, 2 AUNTIES, 3 COUNSELORS/EDUCATIONAL MENTORS, AND 1 GROUNDSKEEPER. IN 2025, JV WAS ABLE TO EXPAND THEIR RELIANCE ON SOLAR POWER, CREATING FURTHER SAVINGS IN ELECTRICAL COSTS FOR THE COMPOUND. BEGINNING IN MARCH, THEY ADDED 24 MORE PANELS, 10 MODERN INVERTERS, 9 HEAT PUMPS, EACH WITH A CAPACITY OF 300 LITERS, AND CONSTRUCTION OF A BATTERY AND HEAT PUMP CAGES AND PIPING WORKS. THE UPGRADED SYSTEM ACCOMMODATES MORE APPLIANCES AND GENERATES SUBSTANTIALLY MORE ELECTRICITY AND HOT WATER DIRECTLY REDUCING RELIANCE ON KENYA POWER. THIS LEADS TO IMMEDIATE, MEASURABLE SAVINGS ON MONTHLY ENERGY BILLS, FREEING UP OPERATIONAL BUDGET. THE PROJECT WAS COMPLETED IN OCTOBER. MANY OF THE HOUSES ALSO RECEIVED RENOVATIONS, INCLUDING CONSTRUCTION OF ADDITIONAL STORAGE SPACE. THROUGH THE JV SCHOLARS PROGRAM, 3 CHILDREN ARE ENROLLED IN PRE-VOCATIONAL TRAINING. THIS YEAR JV BROUGHT IN 4 TUTORS TO HELP THE YOUNGER CHILDREN WITH THEIR SCHOOLWORK AND, AS A RESULT, ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE HAS IMPROVED. MEDICALLY, ONE CHILD UNDERWENT A SUCCESSFUL SUPRATARSAL TRIAMCINOLONE INJECTION. THE SURGICAL PROCEDURE WAS PRIMARILY TO TREAT A CHRONIC AND SEVERE FORM OF EYE ALLERGY THAT HAS NOT BEEN RESPONDING TO CONVENTIONAL TOPICAL TREATMENTS; ANOTHER RECEIVED A NEW SET OF HEARING AIDS AND ANOTHER RECEIVED BRACES. STILL ANOTHER CHILD WAS TREATED SUCCESSFULLY FOR A GASTRIC OBSTRUCTION AND CONTINUES TO IMPROVE WITH TREATMENT AND DIET MODIFICATION. HIV + JOY VILLAGE CHILDREN ACHIEVED AND MAINTAINED A REMARKABLE VIRAL SUPPRESSION RATE OF 95% THROUGHOUT 2025. OF THE 22 HIV POSITIVE CHILDREN THAT WE CARE FOR, ONLY ONE OF THEM PRESENTED WITH NON-COMPLIANCY TO TREATMENT. HE HAS BEEN RECEIVING ONGOING COUNSELING SESSIONS WITH THE CLINIC COUNSELLOR. NAZARETH HOSPITAL OVER 300 PATIENTS, BOTH IN- AND OUT-PATIENT MEDICAL PROCEDURES, WERE SUPPORTED THROUGH THE TREE OF LIVES CHARITY ACCOUNT ENABLING THE POOREST OF THE POOR TO OBTAIN TREATMENT FOR LIFE-THREATENING ILLNESSES. PASTORAL CARE AND COUNSELING WERE PROVIDED BY TWO COUNSELORS FOR AROUND 2,000 PEOPLE, THOUGH THE EXACT NUMBER IS UNCERTAIN BECAUSE THE COUNSELORS DO NOT INCLUDE RECORDS OF STAFF, STUDENTS, AND GRIEF COUNSELING FOR CONFIDENTIALITY REASONS. THE PASTORAL COUNSELING PROGRAM AT NAZARETH IS THE ONLY PROGRAM OF ITS KIND IN KENYA. HOLY FAMILY CENTER THE PROGRAM PUT ON BY THE YOUTH MENTORS FOR WORLD AIDS DAY ON DEC. 1, 2025 REACHED OVER 14,000 PEOPLE, THROUGH A FOOTBALL EVENT, A COMMUNITY FORUM WITH DANCE TEAM, AND A BODA BODA (MOTORCYCLE) RIDE THROUGHOUT THE COMMUNITY. 15 YOUTH MENTORS ORGANIZED THE EVENT. 401 PEOPLE WERE TESTED FOR HIV AND, IF POSITIVE, WERE ENROLLED IN THE HOLY FAMILY CENTER TREATMENT PROGRAM. THE VIRAL SUPPRESSION RATE AMONG YOUTH INVOLVED IN THE HOLY FAMILY CENTER IS CONSISTENTLY 90% OR HIGHER, SURPASSING COUNTRY AVERAGES. HFC'S NUMBER OF PATIENTS ON ANTIRETROVIRAL THERAPY (ART) IS 4,505. THE OVERALL VIRAL SUPPRESSION RATE AMONG PATIENTS WAS 96%. IN 2025, 7,464 INDIVIDUALS WERE TESTED FOR HIV, WITH 150 NEWLY IDENTIFIED POSITIVES AND 145 INDIVIDUALS NEWLY ENROLLED IN THE ART PROGRAM. ADDITIONALLY, 100% OF TUBERCULOSIS (TB)/HIV CO-INFECTED PATIENTS ARE ON ART AND 100% OF HIV INFECTED INDIVIDUALS WERE SCREENED FOR TB. TB IS THE MAJOR CAUSE OF DEATH IN HIV INFECTED PATIENTS. FOR THE 11TH YEAR IN A ROW, HFC'S MOTHER TO MOTHER PROGRAM, DESIGNED TO PREVENT THE TRANSMISSION OF HIV FROM HIV+ PREGNANT WOMEN TO THEIR CHILDREN, HAD A 100% SUCCESS RATE. THE PROGRAM USES COUNSELING, NUTRITION, AND MENTORSHIP TO PREVENT TRANSMISSION. IN 2025, THERE WERE 172 MOTHERS ENROLLED IN THE PROGRAM AND 150 CHILDREN AGES 0-2 ON FOLLOW UP (SOME OF THE MOTHERS HAVE YET TO DELIVER). IN 2025, HOLY FAMILY CENTER'S ERIC MUNENE WAS AWARDED THE 'BEST PERFORMANCE AWARD' BY NAZARETH HOSPITAL, IN RECOGNITION OF HIS CONSISTENT DELIVERY OF RESULTS, EFFECTIVE TEAM COORDINATION, AND OUTSTANDING LEADERSHIP IN IMPROVING SERVICE OUTCOMES THROUGHOUT THE YEAR. THROUGH OUR BOXES OF LOVE FUNDRAISER, 250 FAMILIES AT HOLY FAMILY CENTER WERE GIVEN RICE, FLOUR, SOAP, OIL, SUGAR AND SHOES FOR 8 WEEKS OVER THE HOLIDAY SEASON. ALLAMANO SCHOOL AND SCHOLARS PROGRAM BY THE END OF 2025, THE SCHOLARS PROGRAM INCLUDED 130 STUDENTS, 37 OF WHOM ARE FROM THE JOY VILLAGE. FOUR SCHOLARS ARE ENROLLED IN UNIVERSITY, 6 ARE ATTENDING COLLEGE, AND 9 HAVE SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED THEIR FORM FOUR EXAMS. TEACHER GEORGE CONTINUES TO ADMINISTER THE PROGRAM WITH INTEGRITY, EMPATHY, AND PASSION, HELPING STUDENTS MOVE FORWARD IN THEIR EDUCATION AND GIVING PARENTS THE TOOLS TO HELP THEM HELP THEIR CHILDREN SUCCEED. 200 FOOD AND SUPPLIES PACKETS FROM OUR BOXES OF LOVE FUNDRAISER WENT TO THE FAMILIES OF ALLAMANO STUDENTS.
