Mission
Our mission is to raise funds and awareness to advance research, education, treatment, and support for heart and other organ transplant patients, while empowering the patients, families, and communities affected by these life-changing conditions.
Program accomplishments
- Transplant Patient Support: The purpose of this program is to provide direct assistance to transplant patients and their families during pre-transplant and post-transplant procedures. Direct assistance includes expenses for meals, housing, or transportation. This tax year, we granted $45,000 or 64% of Total Grants awarded to three organizations. Harboring Hearts received a $35,000 grant that supported 63 families in the New York City area to offset the burden of expenses incurred in the pre-transplant process. They provided an average of approximately $500 to each of these families. Heartfelt Help Foundation received a $5,000 grant that supported 5 families in Northern California to offset the burden of expenses incurred during the post-transplant process. These funds provided support approximately $1,000 to each of these families. Off the List received a $5,000 grant that supports patients on the kidney transplant list and their families with the tools needed to find living donors.Expenses $52,332 · grants $45,000
- Donation Awareness and Education: The purpose of this program is to increase public awareness of living and deceased organ donation through seminar sponsorship and outreach to public and private organizations both locally and nationally. This tax year, we granted $25,000 or 36% of Total Grants to five organizations to support organ donation awareness. The most significant of these, $12,000, was granted to one organization. Student Organ Donation Advocates (SODA) received a $12,000 grant to build and support student-led chapters on high school and college campuses across the United States. To date, their chapters have educated over 250,000 students and helped register more than 14,000 new organ donors.Expenses $29,073 · grants $25,000
