Mission

SGAP Leaders empowers teens to become agents of change in their communities and beyond by thinking critically, applying STEM, and championing social impact. Our students 1) brainstorm about projects that they would like to lead (all projects must align with SGAP Leaders' mission), 2) develop a "plan of action," 3) recruit team members, and with guidance, 4) execute their projects. The process of designing, developing and executing their project, exposes our students to real-world challenging experiences such as team dysfunction, poor planning and execution. These challenging experiences are springboards for our students' growth and leadership development. The more we develop our students' ability to think critically, problem solve creatively and lead empathetically, the more successful our students will become. We are committed to rolling out our climate action curriculum to our students and schools from 2024-2026 to better prepare the students for climate-related careers.

The Clinics culminated with a modified Sustainability Exchange workshop focused on the mining for cobalt in the Democratic Republic of Congo, and food waste in the USA. The purpose of the Climate Clinics was to demonstrate SGAP's abilities to implement a longitudinal in-school program and to assess the clinics' effectiveness in engaging teens, and advancing their knowledge in climate-related issues, environmental activism.
