THE COUNSELING PROGRAM TEAM WORKS BASED ON A CLIENT-ORIENTED APPROACH, WHERE THERAPISTS ARE ATTUNED TO CLIENTS' NEEDS. WHEN HOLISTIC TRAUMA TREATMENT IS PROVIDED, CLIENTS' OVERALL FUNCTIONING IMPROVES, ENABLING THEM TO ENGAGE IN ACTIVITIES OF DAILY LIVING. CLIENTS WHO ENGAGE IN HOLISTIC TRAUMA TREATMENT BECOME MORE AWARE OF THEIR STRENGTHS, REGAIN A SENSE OF SELF, AND EXPERIENCE POSITIVE CHANGES IN THEIR RELATIONSHIPS WITH OTHERS. THEY CAN RESTORE A SENSE OF SAFETY AND RELATIONAL SECURITY, RECOGNIZE THEIR OWN WORTH, AND THRIVE IN THEIR FAMILIES AND COMMUNITIES.- PTR'S PSYCHOSOCIAL CARE PROGRAM PROVIDED CASE MANAGEMENT SERVICES TO 63 UNIQUE CLIENTS, 57 OF WHOM WERE NEW. THE PSYCHOSOCIAL CARE PROGRAM ADOPTS A TRAUMA-INFORMED APPROACH TO EMPOWER CLIENTS TO NAVIGATE BARRIERS THAT HINDER THEIR SOCIAL, EMOTIONAL, PSYCHOLOGICAL AND MENTAL WELLBEING. CASE MANAGERS PROVIDE CLIENTS WITH PRACTICAL SUPPORT AND COMMUNITY REFERRALS TO HELP CLIENTS REACH EMPLOYMENT, EDUCATION, MEDICAL, AND OTHER PERSONAL GOALS. - PTR'S AFRICAN COMMUNITIES PROGRAM (ACP) PROVIDED INDIVIDUAL COUNSELING AND CASE MANAGEMENT SERVICES TO 30 CLIENTS, 23 OF WHOM WERE NEW. THE ACP CONTINUED ITS 'DECOLONIZING MENTAL HEALTH SERIES,' AN INITIATIVE STARTED IN 2021 BY PTR AND A PARTNER ORGANIZATION. THE SERIES CENTERS ANCESTRAL KNOWLEDGE, GRASSROOTS MOVEMENTS, YOUTH VOICES, LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT, AND USES ART, POETRY, FOOD, MUSIC, DANCE, AND JOY TO SUPPORT MENTAL HEALTH AND WELLBEING. ALSO IN PARTNERSHIP WITH OTHER LOCAL CBOS, THE ACP HELD THEIR FIRST INAUGURAL AFRO-SOCCER WELLNESS EVENT AS PART OF A HEALTH THROUGH SPORTS INITIATIVE. - IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE ALAMEDA HEALTH SYSTEM, PTR HOSTS THE HUMAN RIGHTS CLINIC, WITH THE PSYCHOSOCIAL CARE PROGRAM SERVING AS A KEY LIAISON TO ENSURE COORDINATED CARE. EACH YEAR, THE CLINIC PROVIDES OVER 300 PSYCHOLOGICAL AND PHYSICAL EVALUATIONS TO ASYLUM SEEKERS. THE HRC TEAM OF MEDICAL PROFESSIONALS EVALUATE THE EMOTIONAL AND PHYSICAL WELLBEING OF CLIENTS, AND WORK WITH LEGAL PARTNERS TO PROVIDE EXPERT TESTIMONIES IN IMMIGRATION COURT. THE HRC HOLDS A MONTHLY FEMALE GENITAL MUTILATION (FGM) EVALUATION CLINIC THAT OFFERS TAILORED REPORTS USED AS SUPPORTIVE EVIDENCE IN IMMIGRATION CASES, AND PROVIDES SEXUAL HEALTH EDUCATION TO SURVIVORS. PTR'S INTERPRETER PROGRAM PLAYS A CRUCIAL ROLE IN FOSTERING LINGUISTIC AND CULTURAL CONNECTIONS, ENSURING THAT SURVIVORS OF TRAUMA CAN ACCESS THE MENTAL HEALTH CARE THEY NEED IN A LANGUAGE THEY UNDERSTAND. PTR RECOGNIZES INTERPRETERS AS INTEGRAL MEMEBERS OF THE SERVICE PROCIDER TEAM, AND BELIEVES INTERPRETERS SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN CONVERSATIONS ABOUT WELLNESS. TO SUPPORT THEM IN THEIR WORK, PTR OFFERS STRUCTURED PEER WORKSHOPS, MENTORSHIP, AND TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES FOCUSED ON RESILIENCE, SELF-CARE, AND COMMUNITY BUILDING.- PTR CONTRACTED WITH 32 INTERPRETERS WHO SPOKE 25 UNIQUE LANGUAGES OTHER THAN ENGLISH, WHICH ALLOWED PTR TO INCREASE LANGUAGE ACCESSIBILITY THROUGH ONGOING IN-PERSON AND VIRTUAL INTERPRETATION SERVICES.
