Mission

Wildlife Education and Advocacy. Working to make Vermont a more humane place for wildlife. Educating the public about the impact that personal decisions have on wildlife and the dangers and cruelty of trapping.

990-EZ for the year ended December 31, 2025

Program accomplishments

  • POW provided educational presentations for adults and children focused on wildlife coexistence, humane treatment of animals, and alternatives to trapping and killing wildlifeThrough social media, advertisements, and its website, POW informed the public about wildlife issues, policy changes, and the harmful impacts of trapping and hounding practices while promoting humane solutions across Vermont and beyond.
    Expenses $37,585 · grants $12,500
  • Wildlife Rehabilitation: Vermont Rehabilitators receive no state or federal funding. POW helps these state licensed rehabilitators with funding for medicines, food, and enclosures to care for their sick, injured, and orphaned wildlife patients. POW also encourages and helps people receive their state wildlife rehabilitator licenses by paying for their expensive rabies vaccine which is necessary for their life saving work.
    Expenses $5,926
  • Wetland Protection and Beavers: Beavers and their dams are crucial to the creation of wetlands and ecosystems which help to stop climate change.During times of draught beaver ponds and rivers help to maintain wildlife and fish. Beaver dams can also cause flooding and damage to roads and infrastructure, and many Vermont towns will trap and kill beavers to stop the damage.POW has worked with numerous Vermont towns to stop the needless killing of this apex species by helping to pay for the installation of water control devices which stop the flooding and destruction of roads, bridges, and other infrastructures.
    Expenses $10,140
