Mission
The Blue Bird School Bus Foundation Inc. is a Georgia nonprofit corporation with the mission to promote education, health, and safety for children in the state of Georgia. The Foundation supports organizations that directly benefit school age children (under 19 years old) as well as organizations that directly support the needs and expenses of disadvantaged communities.
Program accomplishments
- The foundation gave a grant to Safe Kids Central Georgia for their Car Seat Safety Program. The mission of Safe Kids is to reduce the number of preventable injuries in children from birth to age 18. Car seat safety is the most significant area in which Safe Kids help save lives. With this funding, Safe Kids purchased 300 car seats as well as educational materials to provide to low-income families in Peach, Bibb, and Jasper Counties. A special emphasis was placed on Hispanic communities in each county to promote safe car seat usage and teach parents about car seat safety in Spanish.Expenses $12,500 · grants $12,500
- The Middle Georgia Community Food Bank received $10,000 for food for the Backpack Program. In 2011, the Backpack program was created to serve children who face food insecurity. Many children in our 24-county service area rely on the school lunch program for their nutritional needs and often are challenged during weekends and school holidays to get the healthy food they need. Partner agencies receive food items from Middle Georgia Community Food Bank and pack and deliver individual bags to schools on Fridays and before school holidays. These bags are filled with nutritious, single-serving items that are suitable for a child to eat with little preparation and without the assistance of an adult. During the 2024-2025 school year, 6,256 students in 14 counties were served through the program. Might Meals Ministry at Fort Valley Methodist Church served 95 students at three Peach County schools during the year.Expenses $10,000 · grants $10,000
- The Salvation Army of Warner Robins, receives $7,500.00 for their Food Pantry. The Food Pantry program is a vital community service addressing food insecurity in Houston, Peach, and Pulaski Counties. The Food Pantry provides essential food supplies to individuals and families in need, ensuring they have access to nutritious meals. In 2024, the first year of service, the program provided food for over 1,000 families.Expenses $7,500 · grants $7,500
