TO PREVENT LANGUAGE EXTINCTION, WIKITONGUES FIGHTS FOR EVERY LANGUAGE TO BE CELEBRATED, RESPECTED, AND INSTITUTIONALLY SUPPORTED. WE INVEST IN LANGUAGE ACTIVISTS, ACCELERATE ENDANGERED LANGUAGE REVITALIZATION, AND DEFEND MULTILINGUALISM WORLDWIDE.
Program accomplishments
- LANGUAGE REVITALIZATION - WIKITONGUES PROVIDES GRANTS, TRAINING, AND VOLUNTEER SUPPORT TO THE LEADERS OF NEW AND EARLY-STAGE LANGUAGE REVITALIZATION PROJECTS, WITH TACTICS RANGING FROM CHILDHOOD EDUCATION TO MOTHER-TONGUE TECHNOLOGY. IN 2024, WE SUPPORTED 10 LANGUAGE REVITALIZATION LEADERS, REPRESENTING EIGHT COUNTRIES AND 10 UNIQUE LANGUAGES. IN PARALLEL, WE MAINTAIN FREE LANGUAGE RESOURCES AT WIKITONGUES.ORG, INCLUDING A DOWNLOADABLE LANGUAGE REVITALIZATION TOOLKIT AND LINGUISTIC DOCUMENTATION. IN 2024, WE ARCHIVED 40 AUDIO/VIDEO SAMPLES, REPRESENTING 31 UNIQUE LANGUAGES FROM 20 UNIQUE COUNTRIES.Expenses $43,678 · grants $14,393
