Mission

MARK-9 is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing financial assistance for the veterinary medical care of retired working K-9s, supporting the handlers who care for them after their service ends.

990-EZ for the year ended May 31, 2026

Program accomplishments

  • In the past year, MARK-9's medical reimbursement program supported 92 retired working K-9s across the country. Forty-three of those dogs received the full $500 allotment available to them. Ten dogs received reimbursement above the standard allotment, reflecting MARK-9's policy of approving exceptions for circumstances such as end-of-life care. The remaining 39 dogs received a partial reimbursement based on their specific needs. Reimbursements covered routine and extraordinary veterinary care, checkups, and medication for conditions common to working dogs in retirement. Total program expenditures for the year were $40,678.
    Expenses $40,678
