Mission

BUCKBOARD THERAPEUTIC RIDING ACADEMY PROVIDES THERAPEUTIC ACTIVITIES TO SPECIAL NEEDS CHILDREN AND YOUNG ADULTS WHILE ON HORSEBACK. THROUGH THIS PROGRAM THE PARTICIPANTS EXPERIENCE THE BENEFITS OF HORSEBACK THERAPY BY USING THE MOVEMENT OF THE HORSE FOR IMPROVEMENT IN PHYSICAL, MENTAL AND SOCIAL NEEDS.

Program accomplishments

  • In 2025, Buckboard Therapeutic Riding Academy partnered with 5 horses to provide equine services to over 110 children and young adults with various challenges in the local community. We worked very hard to differentiate instruction to everyone who passed through our arena with activities that were specifically geared toward their working goals. There were on average, 25 young individuals that participated in our spring and fall sessions. Summer session included a camp group of 47, plus 15 local riders. It was a very busy year for our 23 volunteers, who each volunteered over 20 hours per seasonal session to make sure our riders were successful. Buckboard continues to provide meaningful opportunities to build on the experience of the human/animal bond that lasts a lifetime.
