Mission

Houston Cares Rescue is a volunteer organization rescuing animals from the streets, and occasionally from shelters, in Houston, TX, and caring for them primarily with foster families until a loving home can be found. We operate a Trap/Neuter/Release (TNR) program for feral cats, feeding three large colonies and taking some of the most adoptable into rescue and finding them homes. We also educate the community on proper animal care and the importance of spay/neuter.

990-EZ for the year ended December 31, 2024

Program accomplishments

  • In 2024, we adopted out 230 animals from our foster program into loving homes. In addition to our community education programs and our Trap/Neuter/Release program for feral cats, our volunteers feed 3 large feral cat colonies. Some of the most adoptable cats from these colonies, typically young kittens, are taken in by our rescue and adopted out to loving families. We are a 100% volunteer organization.
