Mission

Texas Wolfdog Project and Shelter Inc. is an all volunteer and donation based rescue dedicated to saving as many wolfdogs and northern breed dogs in the State of Texas as humanly possible. This will be based off of available foster homes, suitable adoptive homes and of course, financial resources for veterinary care, transportation and basic care of the residents of Texas Wolfdog Project. We support responsible ownership and public education, as well as promoting education for other rescue groups, shelters and Animal Control facilities concerning proper wolfdog identification, evaluation and care.

Program accomplishments

  • In 2025, Texas Wolfdog Project advanced its mission to rescue, rehabilitate, and provide shelter for displaced and at-risk wolfdogs by delivering comprehensive care to 29 animals. Each wolfdog received individualized support, including secure, species-appropriate containment, high-quality nutrition, behavioral enrichment, and ongoing health monitoring. Our program prioritizes vulnerable populations, with specialized, long-term care provided to senior and special-needs wolfdogs who are often unsuitable for rehoming. This year, we successfully intervened in three at-risk situations, rescuing wolfdogs in need of immediate placement and stabilization. Through our structured evaluation and placement process, we responsibly transitioned one animal into a thoroughly vetted, qualified home-ensuring both animal welfare and community safety. These efforts directly reduce neglect, abandonment, and improper ownership of wolfdogs. Community education remains a critical component of our impact. In 2025, we hosted three public educational events and fundraisers, increasing awareness of the unique challenges of wolfdog ownership, ethical considerations, and the importance of responsible care. Additionally, by opening our facility to the public three days per week, we provided 625 visitors with guided, in-person educational experiences. These interactions foster greater public understanding, reduce misinformation, and support long-term prevention of future surrender and rescue needs. Through direct rescue, specialized care, responsible placement, and proactive education, Texas Wolfdog Project continues to improve animal welfare outcomes while building a more informed and responsible community.
