Mission
The mission of BASAibu is to support the wellbeing of young people and communities in Southeast Asia. This includes but is not limited to promoting cultural and linguistic identify, fostering youth civic engagement, improving the health and wellbeing of young people and their communities, and protecting the environment.
Program accomplishments
- During 2024-25, we helped young Indonesians to participate in civic issues and government officials to hear young voices via community-developed, local language digital platforms. Thousands of young people from four Indonesian provinces regularly participated in our public participation wikithons, either by submitting entries or by responding to entries submitted by others. Policymakers from multiple government agencies sat on wikithon juries and publicly responded to young peoples suggestions. Three wikithons were held in each of four provinces for a total of 12 wikithons. Cumulatively, more than 5 million have used the wikis to date. We were awarded the 2025WSIS prize in the category of local content and language diversity.Expenses $290,372 · grants $231,270
