Program accomplishments

  • SkillUp: SkillUp is a program that provides Food Stamp and TANF recipients opportunities to gain skills, training or experience that will improve their ability to attain employment and decrease their dependency on public assistance programs. The intention of the program is rapid attachment to work that leads to self-sufficiency for families. The program offers job search, training, education and supportive services to participants. MCAN provides T/TA to sub-contractors, as well as program monitoring. SkillUp is a voluntary program for all food stamp and TANF recipients.
    Expenses $1,946,118 · grants $1,800,870
  • Energy Fund: Funds provided through the Emergency Weatherization Support fund were provided by Missouri's investor-owned utilities. These entities are governed through the Missouri Public Service Commission who ultimately approves rates, cost sharing, and contributions required to support vulnerable Missourians. When utilities request increases to their rate cases, funding support is often required to support low-income Missourians through various programs including Weatherization to decrease energy burden. Funds for the Emergency Weatherization Fund were provided from shareholder dollars already allocated to Weatherization programs across the state through the rate case process. All funds were sent to Missouri CAN to distribute out to agencies providing weatherization services across the state.
