Mission
The Dublin Dazzlers Synchronized Ice Skating Team was formed for charitable purposes in January of 1999. Specifically, it provided an opportunity for young ice skaters, between the ages of 8 and 18, to learn the techniques of synchronized ice skating and experience the challenges and pleasures of participating in a team sport. In March of 1999, a second team, the Dublin Dolls, was established to more effectively accommodate the wide range of skating ability and maturity levels demonstrated by the members of the original team. Both the Dublin Dazzlers and the Dublin Dolls teams operate as one organization for financial and tax reporting purposes under the name Dublin Dazzlers.
Program accomplishments
- 1) Maintained a safe team sport environment for 30-35 Dazzler and Dolls synchronized team skaters during 2 On-ice and 1-2 Off Ice practices held weekly year round by renting Ice Time at Home and Venue Rinks. Skaters were required to wear team uniforms to be identified at the rinks and learned to honor practice time commitments for the benefit and safety of all members.Expenses $26,939
- 2) To promote & maintain the value of working toward specific performance goals as a team rather than a "group of individuals" skating together or against one another. We provided a minimum of 1.5 hours of professional ice skating coaching in order to evaluate their progress in synchronized ice skating techniques and movements as each skating program was developed and adapted through the year. Skating Programs had to be modified for each event based on total membership attending each competition or exhibition.Expenses $30,522
- 3) By traveling out of the area but within California for one Gala performance, two Competitions, and a Holiday Show as well as traveling to Blaine Minnesota for the ISI Worlds Competition the skaters performed well and demonstrated outstanding sportsmanship toward fellow team members as well as competitors both when the results were successful as well as disappointing.Expenses $12,660
