Mission

Africa Development Promise is a Colorado based nonprofit organization whose mission is to improve the lives and livelihoods of rural women in East Africa through training and resources that support their collective efforts to operate competitively in the marketplace.

990 for the year ended December 31, 2024

Program accomplishments

  • In Rwanda, ADP focused on boosting the agricultural capacity of 8 cooperatives (500+ women farmers) by promoting crop diversification, integrated pest management (IPM) training, and improved irrigation systems for sustainable water use. A highlight was the construction of a farm packhouse for the KAJU Cooperative, which equips the cooperative to receive, clean, grade, cool, and store fresh produce for market. This critical infrastructure allows farmers to reduce post-harvest losses and sell produce when prices peak, improving both income and food security.
    Expenses $62,635
  • ADP also continued the IPM project through Farmer Field Schools to address crop damage from pests and disease, a recurring challenge in drought-prone Bugesera District. By strengthening farmers' ability to adapt to changing conditions, the program improves yields, supports economic development, and contributes to community well-being.
    Expenses $62,635
  • In Uganda, ADP expanded its vocational training programs with the construction of a new classroom and the purchase of sewing machines. The tailoring program now offers a second year of advanced training, enabling Level 1 graduates to become professional tailors. In addition, ADP continued to provide cooperative members, students, and community members with training in computer literacy and entrepreneurship. In total, ADP trained 87 students through the vocational program in 2024, while in Rwanda, 40 students completed microbusiness development courses. These efforts reflect ADP's commitment to building skills that empower individuals, strengthen cooperatives, and foster long-term resilience.
    Expenses $62,635
  • In Uganda, ADP's vocational training offers cooperative members, middle and high school students, and community members access to computer literacy, sewing, and entrepreneurship courses. In 2023, ADP trained 79 students while in Rwanda ADP trained 40 students through our microbusiness development0
