Program accomplishments

  • DURING 2025, SIGNIFICANT TIME AND RESOURCES WERE DEDICATED TO PREPARING FOR THE SALE OF MANY OF THE ORGANIZATION'S ASSETS AND RELOCATING TO A FACILITY BETTER SUITED TO ITS EVOLVING NEEDS. AS PART OF THIS TRANSITION, THE ORGANIZATION CHANGED ITS NAME BACK TO THE FORT MIAMI HERITAGE SOCIETY, REFLECTING ITS SHIFT AWAY FROM OPERATING AS A MUSEUM AND CULTURAL CENTER AND ITS RENEWED FOCUS ON HISTORICAL PRESERVATION, ARCHIVAL STEWARDSHIP, RESEARCH, AND EDUCATION. NEW BYLAWS WERE ADOPTED TO REFLECT THE ORGANIZATION'S REVISED STRUCTURE, PURPOSE, AND MISSION. ONCE ESTABLISHED IN THE NEW LOCATION, EFFORTS FOCUSED ON ORGANIZING, PRESERVING, AND DIGITIZING THE ARCHIVAL COLLECTION, WHILE EXPANDING PUBLIC ACCESS TO HISTORICAL MATERIALS AND IMPROVING THE ORGANIZATION'S ABILITY TO SERVE RESEARCHERS, EDUCATORS, AND THE COMMUNITY.
