Program accomplishments

  • Program 1: Doing ethnic relevant evangelism service projects and children's ministries. We had planned on receiving three outreach teams from Michigan, Georgia, and South Korea all of which cancelled due to various reasons. We were able to successfully study three local Alaska Native Totem Poles and identify the "Redemptive Analogies" associated with the "Story Poles". This is an important part of reaching Southeast Alaska Native people with the Truth of Biblical principles of the Salvation Message incorporated and intrinsically relevant to their culture. Program 2: The Youth With A Mission Ketchikan Korean full time volunteer staff continued to participate all year with the Salvation Army youth program, which primarily serves Alaska Native youth teaching the Bible and supporting families by on site home visitation and offering help in any way possible to encourage youth participation with the church program. Program 3: Full time volunteer staff Debbie Nance successfully completed additional training with the Youth With A Mission Member Care discipline of Youth With A Mission International, traveling to Pennsylvania, Montana, Wisconsin, and Texas for training and debriefing events for individuals and families, and staffed a "Practical Introduction to Member Care" online course.
