Mission

McTeggart Irish Dancers of South Texas was organized exclusively for the purposes of charity, education and fostering national and international amateur sports competitions. Specifically, McTeggart Irish Dancers of South Texas develops the competence of local step dancers and supports their attendance at the annual North American Championship, and World Irish Dance Championship amateur step dancing competitions and qualifying events. Promote the awareness of Irish culture and traditional Irish dance by supporting performance demonstrations. The company presents local dance students as a performance group.

Program accomplishments

  • The company presents local dance students as a performance group. All dancers and choreographers are volunteers. Generally performances are requested by individuals or community groups to coincide with other events or holidays. The performances are given free of charge, though in many cases the event sponsors make a donation. Where appropriate, the general public is invited to support us by becoming members or by donating to our organization. More than 10 such performance events were held over the past 12 months. These are detailed in the public calendar section of www.irishdancehouston.com. A conservative estimate of the number of volunteer hours associated with preparing for and executing the performances is 4,000 hours per year.
