THE INTERNATIONAL NURSES SOCIETY ON ADDICTIONS IS A PROFESSIONAL SPECIALTY ORGANIZATION FOR NURSES COMMITTED TO THE PREVENTION, INTERVENTION, TREATMENT AND MANAGEMENT OF ADDICTIVE DISORDERS, INCLUDING ALCOHOL AND OTHER DRUG DEPENDENCIES, NICOTINE DEPENDENCIES, EATING DISORDERS, DUAL AND MULTIPLE DIAGNOSES OF ADDICTIVE DISORDERS, AND PROCESS ADDICTIONS, SUCH AS GAMBLING.
Program accomplishments
- AT THE ANNUAL CONFERENCE, ABOUT 375 REGISTERED NURSES ARE AFFORDED A NUMBER OF EDUCATIONAL PRESENTATIONS, A FORUM FOR THE EXCHANGE OF IDEAS AND THE OCCASION FOR SOCIAL NETWORKING TO INCREASE COLLEGIAL RELATIONSHIPS.
- INTERNATIONAL NURSES SOCIETY ON ADDICTIONS OFFERS A QUARTERLY JOURNAL OF ADDICTIONS NURSING, WHICH PUBLISHES CURRENT RESEARCH AND ARTICLES ON ISSUES AND PRACTICES IN THE FIELD. OTHER EDUCATIONAL BOOKS ARE OFFERED FOR SALE, INCLUDING CORE CURRICULUM OF ADDICTION NURSING; ADDICTIONS NURSING: SCOPE AND STANDARDS OF PRACTICE; COUNSELING POINTS; AND STUDY GUIDE FOR CARN EXAM.
