Mission
TO PROMOTE ARTS EVENTS IN THE ELYSIAN VALLEY NEIGHBORHOOD OF LOS ANGELES, CALIFONRIA.
Program accomplishments
- 2024 was a remarkable year for The Elysian Valley Arts Collective, marked by an exciting blend of diverse programming, creative collaborations, and the launch of a new event series as well as the 14th Biennial Frogtown Artwalk. Our offerings continue to be inclusive, educational, and varied serving not only our immediate community but also attracting visitors from across Los Angeles who come to Elysian Valley/Frogtown to experience this vibrant creative hub. Thanks to the generosity of our supporters and grant partners, all of our art classes and cultural events in 2024 were offered free of charge. PROGRAMMING: OVERVIEWOur 14th biennial Frogtown Artwalk was set against the backdrop of the Los Angeles River, with the steady flow of pedestrians, cyclists and pedicabs traversing the bike path to reach 35 art and culture destinations along the mile-long route. The Artwalk offered more than just visual art; attendees immersed themselves in live musical performances, dance showcases, interactive installations, and literary readings. The event also featured artmaking stations for all ages, fostering a hands-on appreciation for the arts. With over 70 artists participating, and an estimated 4000 attendees, the event was a feast for all the senses. This year, our youth arts education programs thrived, highlighted by free poetry and ceramics classes for young people in Northeast LA, made possible through partnerships with poet A.K. Toney and Sooki Studio. We also completed the second half of a year-long mosaic workshop series for seniors, led by artist-in-residence Katrina Alexy. The program culminated in a joyful celebration at the Elysian Valley Community Garden, where our senior participants unveiled a stunning mosaic table, a lasting contribution to the community, to be enjoyed for years to come. In 2024, we debuted Frogtown First Fridays, a new event series that attracted thousands of visitors from June through October. These lively Friday nights showcased local art, music, and cultural performances at venues throughout the neighborhood. A highlight of the series was our inaugural Pride Night in June, a celebration of our LGBTQ+ community. Looking ahead, we are excited to bring Frogtown First Fridays back in 2025, along with the return of Illuminate the Night in the fall. We remain steadfastly committed to fostering community engagement through art and culture, empowering artists, and strengthening the bonds between neighbors, our partners, and collaborators.Expenses $96,248
