Program accomplishments

  • ST. JOSEPH COUNTY FARM BUREAU, INC. PROMOTES AGRICULTURAL EDUCATION BY HOSTING A BOOTH AT AG DAYS. THE BOOTH PROVIDES INFORMATION ABOUT FARM PRODUCTS IN THEIR RAW STATE AND WHAT THOSE PRODUCTS ARE MADE INTO. WE HAVE GRAINS FOR PEOPLE TO SEE AND TOUCH AND FOOD PRODUCTS THAT ARE MADE FROM THOSE GRAINS. THERE IS ALSO INFORMATION ON FARM SAFETY. VOLUNTEERS ARE ABLE TO INTERACT WITH THE PUBLIC AND EDUCATE THEM ABOUT AGRICULTURE AND WHERE THEIR FOOD COMES FROM. OVER THREE DAYS, OVER 4,000 MEMBERS OF THE GENERAL PUBLIC ATTEND AG DAYS.
  • ST. JOSEPH COUNTY FARM BUREAU, INC. EDUCATES SCHOOL-AGE CHILDREN ABOUT AGRICULTURE BY USING THE AG IN THE CLASSROOM PROGRAM. APPROXIMATELY 600 STUDENTS, FROM KINDERGARTEN THROUGH FIFTH GRADE, ARE ABLE TO PARTICIPATE IN THIS PROGRAM. THE CHILDREN LEARN ABOUT THE DIFFERENT ITEMS AGRICULTURE PRODUCES AND WHO DOES THE WORK IN EACH STEP OF THE PROCESS.
