Program accomplishments

  • COUNCIL OF INTERNATIONAL PROGRAMS (CIP): EXPANDING GLOBAL CONNECTIONS IN 2025: FOR 70 YEARS, THE COUNCIL OF INTERNATIONAL PROGRAMS (CIP) HAS BEEN A DRIVING FORCE IN FOSTERING CROSS-CULTURAL UNDERSTANDING BY CONNECTING PEOPLE FROM DIFFERENT NATIONS THROUGH SHARED PROFESSIONAL INTERESTS PROGRAMS. BY BRINGING PEOPLE TOGETHER TO LEARN FROM ONE ANOTHER, CIP STRENGTHENS COMMUNITIES, PROMOTES COLLABORATION, AND BUILDS THE SKILLS AND PERSPECTIVES LEADERS NEED TO CREATE POSITIVE WORLD-WIDE CHANGE. IN 2025, CIP'S IMPACT REACHED NEW HEIGHTS, HOSTING 387 PARTICIPANTS BY SPONSORING 338 EXCHANGE VISITORS THROUGH TRANSFORMATIVE TRAINING AND INTERNSHIP PROGRAMS AND HOSTED 49 INTERNATIONAL LEADERS THROUGH THE CONGRESSIONAL OFFICE OF INTERNATIONAL LEADERSHIP'S OPEN WORLD PROGRAM THE GERMAN TRAX (TRANS-ATLANTIC EXCHANGE) PROGRAM CONTINUED ITS SUCCESS, MARKING ITS FOURTH YEAR OF PARTNERSHIP WITH IJAB. EIGHT SOCIAL WORKER PROFESSIONALS FROM GERMANY GAINED HANDS-ON EXPERIENCE IN KALAMAZOO, CHICAGO AND WEST VIRGINIA STRENGTHENING PROFESSIONAL AND CULTURAL TIES BETWEEN THE U.S. AND GERMANY. CIP'S J-1 VISA SPONSORSHIP: A GATEWAY TO PROFESSIONAL GROWTH CIP'S ROLE AS A J-1 VISA SPONSOR HAS BEEN INSTRUMENTAL IN WELCOMING GLOBAL TALENT TO THE U.S. THIS YEAR, 197 TRAINEES AND 124 INTERNS PARTICIPATED IN CIP'S J-1 VISA PROGRAMS. THESE PARTICIPANTS GAINED VALUABLE EXPERIENCE IN DIVERSE INDUSTRIES WHILE CONTRIBUTING THEIR INTERNATIONAL PERSPECTIVES TO AMERICAN WORKPLACES. GRANT-FUNDED INITIATIVES EXPANDING GLOBAL LEARNING THIS YEAR, CIP FACILITATED EIGHT PUBLIC DIPLOMACY PROGRAMS THROUGH THE OPEN WORLD PROGRAM, BRINGING 49 INTERNATIONAL LEADERS FROM COUNTRIES INCLUDING SERBIA, ROMANIA, MONGOLIA, ARMENIA AND UKRAINE TO THE U.S. FOR SPECIALIZED TRAINING. SUPPORTED BY AN 117,180 OPEN WORLD GRANT, THESE PROGRAMS SPANNED THROUGH FOUR CIP NETWORK OFFICES. A LEGACY OF LIFELONG IMPACT AS CIP CELEBRATES ITS 70TH ANNIVERSARY, THE NEED FOR CROSS-CULTURAL UNDERSTANDING REMAINS STRONG. WHILE OUR WORLD HAS INDEED EXPANDED SINCE 1956 WHEN CIP HAS BEEN ESTABLISHED AND IN WAYS WE FEEL MORE GLOBALLY CONNECTED THAN EVER, STEREOTYPES, PRECONCEIVED NOTIONS AND FEAR-BASED BELIEFS ARE SURPRISINGLY ENGRAINED IN OUR WAYS OF THINKING. CIP'S WORK CONTINUES TO BREAK DOWN THOSE BARRIERS THROUGH INTENTIONAL AND AUTHENTIC CULTURAL SHARING ROOTED IN RESPECT, CURIOSITY AND KINDNESS.
