Mission
Domestic rabbits are wonderful but expensive pets. Most owners are not aware of the costs involved to properly care for exotics when they select a rabbit as a pet. We accept surrendered, abandoned, and neglected house rabbits. We spay or neuter them as necessary, treat medical problems including treatment for pets of very low income owners whose only option would have been euthanasia due to cost of medical treatment. These people pay us back over time as they can. Last year we were reimbursed $7,180 for urgent care treatment, including eye problems, ecuniculi, injuries requiring amputation of limbs, and extreme dental problems. We provide foster homes for the rabbits and adopt them into suitable families seeking house rabbits as companion animals.
Program accomplishments
- We spayed or neutered 47 house rabbits, provided medical care for injury or illness for 41 additional rabbits.Expenses $36,842
- We provided foster homes for surrendered, abandoned or neglected house rabbits including exercise pens, litter boxes, food bowls, bedding, toys, hay and pellets for rabbits that will be rehomed, including 40 bonded pairs and 65 single rabbits.Expenses $6,630
- We created and sold items from our Boutique at Spa Events which are held each weekend in nine Western Washington cities. With volunteer help, we make nibble mats, mattresses, flop beds, forage and treats, toys, simple decor items and small things such as phone charms, keychains, magnets. Bunny owners always enjoy having this selection available at Spa Events as nice bunny specific items are not generally available at pet stores. We don't raise a lot of funds doing this but it is very festive.Expenses $2,930
