Mission
The Ability Collective of Barry County is organized exclusively for charitable purposes, specifically to empower individuals with disabilities and their families to thrive in their own communities. This is achieved by providing access to local resources, support services, and community integration programs designed to enhance independence and quality of life.
Program accomplishments
- The 2025 Community Solutions Assessment was conducted to better understand the needs, barriers, and opportunities shaping the inclusion, accessibility, and overall well-being of people with disabilities across Barry County. Our goal was to listen to community members, partners, and organizations in order to identify practical, collaborative solutions that reflect real experiences and priorities. To gather a complete picture, we used three complementary methods in addition to preliminary asset mapping: Meetings with local organizations, service providers, and community leaders to explore existing efforts, resource gaps, and partnership opportunities. A community survey to collect both quantitative and qualitative data on local challenges and ideas for improvement. Listening sessions with residents, caregivers, and people with lived experience of disability or other barriers to inclusion. Together, these data sources elevate the collective voice of the community and ensure that future planning efforts are grounded in what matters most to the people of Barry County.Expenses $8,404
- Pi Lab is a community-based program that provides individuals with disabilities opportunities to build independent living, social, and employment-related skills through hands-on learning experiences. Participants engage in structured activities that promote problem-solving, communication, and real-world skill development in a supportive environment. The program aims to increase community participation, confidence, and pathways to meaningful employment.Expenses $500 · grants $500
