AS WESTCHESTER'S ONLY FURNITURE BANK, WE COLLECT GENTLY USED, UNWANTED FURNITURE AND GIVE IT A SECOND LIFE BY DISTRIBUTING IT FOR FREE TO ECONOMICALLY DISADVANTAGED FAMILIES AND INDIVIDUALS ACROSS WESTCHESTER COUNTY. WE KEEP THOUSANDS OF POUNDS OF FURNITURE OUT OF THE WASTE STREAM WHILE FURNISHING HUNDREDS OF HOMES EACH YEAR FOR THE PEOPLE WHO NEED IT THE MOST.
Program accomplishments
- FURNITURE SHAREHOUSE HAS ONLY ONE PROGRAM - COLLECTING DONATIONS OF GENTLY-USED FURNITURE FROM THE PUBLIC AND DISTRIBUTING FREE OF CHARGE TO INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES IN NEED. WE WORK WITH OVER 40 SOCIAL SERVICE AGENCIES WHO REFER THEIR CLIENTS TO US WHO ARE IN NEED OF FURNITURE AND CAN'T AFFORD TO PURCHASE IT. OVER THE COURSE OF 2024-2025 WE FURNISHED 402 HOUSEHOLDS IN WESTCHESTER COUNTY.IN 2024-2025, WE SURPASSED THREE MAJOR MILESTONES: IN 18 YEARS OF OPERATIONS, WE FURNISHED OVER 18,000 PEOPLE WITH OVER 100,000 ITEMS OF FREE FURNITURE WORTH OVER $6M AT THRIFT SHOP VALUE. WE CELEBRATED THESE MILESTONES WITH A RECEPTION AT OUR WAREHOUSE ATTENDED BY STATE AND LOCAL ELECTED OFFICIALS, REPRESENTATIVES OF OUR MEMBER AGENCIES, COMMUNITY PARTNERS AND MAJOR DONORS. OUR PROUDEST ACHIEVEMENT IN 2024-2025 IS HAVING FURNISHED 50 OUT OF 77 APARTMENTS SET ASIDE IN A NEW AFFORDABLE HOUSING APARTMENT BUILDING FOR PEOPLE IN NEED OF SUPPORTIVE SERVICES, INCLUDING MANY WHO WERE ESCAPING FROM DOMESTIC VIOLENCE.Expenses $629,711 · grants $402,617 · revenue $23,610
