Mission

Michigan Interfaith Power Light s mission is to inspire and equip people of faith to exercise stewardship of and love for all Creation. We offer practical ways to put faith into action by promoting energy efficiency, renewable energy, and other sustainable practices that lead to a cleaner, healthier, and more just world.

990 for the year ended December 31, 2024

Program accomplishments

  • We completed energy saving projects at 11 low-income congregations across the state, helping them put 100,000 each 1.1 million total in grant dollars into energy saving building improvements. These 11 congregations reduced their energy costs by an average of 23, with two congregations expecting to reduce their energy use by over 50. We began a 2 year project to help 6 Detroit congregation community centers become hubs for climate resilience by improving their buildings and receiving training to better support their communities in times of weather disasters like extreme heat, poor air quality, flooding, and power outages. In partnership with Adamah, we brought urban and suburban, Jewish, Christian and Unitarian congregations together for peer learning, fellowship, and find active hope amidst the climate crisis.
