Program accomplishments

  • Parenting Classes Circle of Friends/Including Peer-to-Peer and Bump to Bundle Clients participating:114 Accomplishments: The Southern Ohio Pregnancy Center is dedicated to fostering both godly and healthy families. Our most sought-after offerings are parenting classes, which provide essential guidance for new parents and those with young children, helping them build the skills and knowledge needed to be nurturing caregivers. These classes are so well-regarded that Highland County Children Services and the Highland County Court System often include them in case plans for parents whose children are temporarily in foster care. Our new program, Bump-to-Bundle, is specially designed to support first-time parents as they prepare for and adjust to life with their new baby. Through engaging lessons and practical guidance, participants learn essential parenting skills, child safety, and foundational life lessons that help them thrive in their parenting journey.
    Expenses $49,537
  • Earn While You Learn Clients participating:111 In 2018, the Southern Ohio Pregnancy Center launched BrightCourse, an online educational program tailored to clients seeking both material aid and guidance in parenting and life skills. BrightCourse is an extensive resource for pregnancy centers, providing video-based lessons on key topics such as prenatal care, parenting techniques, life management skills, emotional health, relationships, and child development. This program empowers clients with practical knowledge to navigate their parenting journeys effectively. By incorporating BrightCourse, the Center has enhanced its service offerings, allowing clients to access educational content at their own pace and convenience. This program supports personal development, helping clients build a strong foundation for their families while earning baby bucks to shop for essential items. BrightCourse has proven to be an invaluable addition to the Centers resources...

  • Abstinence Education Progam Students Taught: 1,500 Accomplishments: For seventeen years, the Southern Ohio Pregnancy Center has funded and provided an Abstinence Program in the schools (beginning with the 2007-2008 school year). The Center partners with Relationships Under Construction to provide federally approved curriculum. Students are taught the consequences of behavior that puts them at risk for pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases. They are taught not only the physical consequences, but also the long-term consequences concerning their life goals. When the program began in 2007, Highland County was 4th in the state for teen pregnancy. Highland County is now 29th in the state for teen pregnancies. The program continues to get great feedback from students and teachers.
