TO PROVIDE SERVICES AND RESOURCES TO ORPHANAGES AND OTHER SIMILAR INSTITUTIONS IN DEVELOPING COUNTRIES WHERE CHILDREN WITH MENTAL AND PHYSICAL DISABILITIES ARE PLACED.

990 for the year ended December 31, 2025

Program accomplishments

  • IN JAMAICA, CDFI CONTINUED ITS PROGRAM SUPPORT AT WEST HAVEN CHILDRENS HOME NEAR MONTEGO BAY, SERVING APPROXIMATELY 100 CHILDREN AND YOUNG ADULTS WITH PHYSICAL AND INTELLECTUAL DISABILITIES. THE SCHOOL AT WEST HAVEN PROVIDES YEAR-ROUND SPECIAL EDUCATION, INDIVIDUALIZED INSTRUCTION, AND THERAPEUTIC SUPPORT, INCLUDING ENRICHMENT ACTIVITIES SUCH AS MUSIC, ART, SPORTS DAYS, COMMUNITY OUTINGS, AND PARTICIPATION IN THE JAMAICAN SPECIAL OLYMPICS. CDFI ALSO SUPPORTED AN ON-SITE MEDICAL CLINIC, ENSURING ACCESS TO BASIC HEALTHCARE AND NURSING SERVICES FOR RESIDENTS. ADDITIONAL SUPPORT INCLUDED PROVISION OF ADAPTIVE WHEELCHAIRS, EDUCATIONAL AND SENSORY EQUIPMENT, CLOTHING, DIAPERS, AND OTHER ESSENTIAL SUPPLIES, AS WELL AS DIRECT FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FOR FOOD, UTILITIES, FACILITY MAINTENANCE, AND INFRASTRUCTURE IMPROVEMENTS. CHILD SPONSORSHIPS AND VOLUNTEER MISSION TEAMS FURTHER SUPPORTED EDUCATION, CAREGIVING, AND QUALITY-OF-LIFE SERVICES THROUGHOUT THE YEAR.
    Expenses $132,708 · grants $125,986
  • IN KENYA, CDFI SUPPORTED APPROXIMATELY 260 DISABLED CHILDREN AND THEIR FAMILIES. CDFI GRANTS FUNDED EMPLOYMENT OF TEN PROGRAM COORDINATORS AND PAID THE SCHOOL FEES FOR THOSE CHILDREN WHO ARE ABLE TO ATTEND SCHOOL; COORDINATED A CHILD SPONSORSHIP PROGRAM, WHERE SPONSORS WERE PUT IN DIRECT COMMUNICATION WITH THEIR SPONSORED CHILD AND HIS OR HER FAMILY, AND ENCOURAGED TO PRAY FOR THE CHILD. CDFI HAS ESTABLISHED A MICRO ENTERPRISE SYSTEM WHICH ENABLES PARENTS OF THE CHILDREN IN THE PROGRAM TO SUPPORT THEMSELVES. CDFI GRANTS FUNDED THE PURCHASE OF SEEDS AND FERTILIZER FOR EVERY FAMILY IN THE PROGRAM SO THAT THEY COULD GROW THEIR OWN FOOD. BECAUSE THESE FAMILIES LIVE IN MUD HOUSES WITHOUT PLUMBING OR ELECTRICITY, AND WITH VERY LITTLE FURNITURE, THE DISABLED CHILDREN WERE SLEEPING EITHER ON THIN MATS OR ON THE GROUND. CDFI PURCHASED MATTRESSES, SHEETS AND PILLOWS FOR EVERY CHILD IN THE PROGRAM. CDFI PAID FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF A BATH HOUSE ON THE PROPERTY WHICH WAS PURCHASED THE PREVIOUS YEAR FOR HEADQUARTERS FOR THE PROGRAM. SEVERAL ABANDONED DISABLED CHILDREN RESIDE AT A FOSTER HOME BUILT ON THE PROPERTY.
    Expenses $263,324 · grants $249,988
