Program accomplishments
- THE TITLE 1 PROGRAM AT SENSE CHARTER SCHOOL PROVIDES ADDITIONAL SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES TO STUDENTS BY: EMPLOYING HIGHLY QUALIFIED TEACHERS IN PRIMARY CLASSROOMS TO SERVE AS CO-TEACHERS. CO-TEACHERS WILL WORK WITH SMALL GROUPS OF STUDENTS WITHIN A CLASSROOM, FOCUSING ON STANDARDS FOR REMEDIATION AND DEVELOPMENT IDENTIFIED BY FORMATIVE ASSESSMENTS AND BENCHMARKS. THOSE DATA POINTS INCLUDE M-CLASS DIBELS, READY CURRICULAR ASSESSMENTS, AND MASTERYCONNECT SCHOOL CREATED BENCHMARKS. EMPLOYING A DIRECTOR OF DATA AND ASSESSMENT TO SUPPORT PRESCRIPTIVE INSTRUCTION THROUGH THE COLLECTION OF FORMATIVE AND STANDARDIZED ASSESSMENTS THAT ARE UTILIZED IN COACHING AND PLANNING CYCLES. ADDITIONALLY, SENSE WILL RETAIN THEIR INTERMEDIATE COACH (THAT WAS IN THE PREVIOUS YEARS PLAN) TO SUPPORT TEACHERS IN GRADES 4-8. THE COACH WILL USE DIANE SWEENEY COACHING CYCLES FORMAT TO PROVIDE COACHING CYCLES TO TEACHERS ON A CALENDAR CYCLE USING DATA TARGETS ALIGNED TO INDIVIDUAL GRADE LEVEL/CLASSROOM DATA. ADDITIONALLY THE COACH WILL WORK IN SUPPORTING TEACHERS WITH PLANNING USING THE INTERNALIZATION PROCESS FOR HIGHER THINKING AND LEARNING. THE SCHOOL INTERVENTIONIST WILL WORK WITH STUDENTS IN GRADES 2-5 WHO ARE IDENTIFIED BELOW GRADE LEVEL BASED ON A TRIANGULATION OF DATA AND OR HAVE NOT PASSED I-READ. THE INTERVENTIONIST WILL WORK WITH 4-6 STUDENTS IN A SMALL GROUP AS A TIER II SUPPORT TO IMPROVE STUDENT READING FLUENCY AND COMPREHENSION. PROGRESS WILL BE TRACKED USING DIBELS.Expenses $584,732 · revenue $24,613
- THROUGH OUR SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT GRANT, SENSE CHARTER SCHOOL PROVIDES A COMPREHENSIVE RANGE OF SUPPORTS TO MEET STUDENTS' ACADEMIC, SOCIAL-EMOTIONAL, AND DEVELOPMENTAL NEEDS. WE OFFER ONE-ON-ONE AND SMALL GROUP TUTORING BEFORE, DURING, AND AFTER SCHOOL, AS WELL AS PEER TUTORING PROGRAMS LIKE CADET TEACHING FOR MIDDLE SCHOOL. OUR MULTI-TIERED SYSTEM OF SUPPORTS (MTSS) ENSURES REGULAR COLLABORATION TO IDENTIFY AND ADDRESS STUDENT NEEDS, INCLUDING EARLY INTERVENTION THROUGH SCREENERS FOR DYSLEXIA, HIGH ABILITY, AND KINDERGARTEN READINESS. EXTENDED LEARNING IS OFFERED DURING HOLIDAYS AND SUMMER TO PREVENT LEARNING LOSS. SOCIAL-EMOTIONAL LEARNING IS INTEGRATED ACROSS THE CURRICULUM, COMPLEMENTED BY ACCESS TO COUNSELING AND MENTAL HEALTH RESOURCES. WE PROMOTE HEALTH AND WELLNESS THROUGH PHYSICAL EDUCATION, CLUBS, SPORTS, AND INITIATIVES LIKE FRESH FRUIT AND VEGETABLE, ALONGSIDE LESSONS ON NUTRITION AND LIFESTYLE. ADDITIONALLY, STUDENTS BUILD ESSENTIAL LIFE SKILLS AND CORE VALUES INCLUDING INTEGRITY, RESPECT, AND PERSEVERANCE THROUGH RESPONSIVE CLASSROOM PRACTICES.Expenses $300,000
- THROUGH THE CHARTER GRANT 3951, SENSE CHARTER SCHOOL PROVIDED ESSENTIAL TRANSPORTATION SERVICES TO ENSURE EQUITABLE ACCESS TO EDUCATION. WITH NINE BUS ROUTES, WE WERE ABLE TO SERVE APPROXIMATELY 250-275 STUDENTS, REPRESENTING NEARLY HALF OF OUR STUDENT BODY. AS A COMMUNITY SCHOOL WHERE THE MAJORITY OF STUDENTS QUALIFY FOR FREE LUNCH, TRANSPORTATION IS OFTEN A SIGNIFICANT BARRIER FOR FAMILIES. BY REMOVING THIS OBSTACLE, THE GRANT-FUNDED BUSES HELPED IMPROVE STUDENT ATTENDANCE, ENSURING THAT CHILDREN COULD CONSISTENTLY PARTICIPATE IN DAILY INSTRUCTION AND SCHOOL ACTIVITIES. INCREASED ATTENDANCE HAS DIRECTLY SUPPORTED ACADEMIC GROWTH, AS STUDENTS WHO ATTEND MORE REGULARLY DEMONSTRATE IMPROVED PERFORMANCE ON ASSESSMENTS. THIS INVESTMENT IN TRANSPORTATION NOT ONLY STRENGTHENED STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT BUT ALSO REINFORCED OUR MISSION OF PROVIDING ALL CHILDREN, REGARDLESS OF CIRCUMSTANCE, WITH RELIABLE ACCESS TO HIGH-QUALITY EDUCATION.Expenses $471,625
