Mission
Promoting road and traffic safety primarily through the use of automated enforcement to include red light, school bus arm and speed safety technology. NCSR equips survivor advocates with the tools and resources needed to end road violence in their communities.
Program accomplishments
- Research/Reports - Released an interactive speed map to showcase and honor the 9,773 lives lost in speed-related crashes from 2011-2015. An average of 814 people were killed each month in speed related crashes. Speed safety cameras help to combat this dangerous and deadly act and save lives. Shared this map with various industry groups and coalitions such as Alert Today Florida, GHSA and IIHS in order for people to better understand where lives are being lost on American Roadways.
- Coalition Building - NCSR continues to develop partnerships with like-minded organizations and survivor advocates. NCSR is involved with GHSA and IIHS on a National Forum Movement to develop a speed management program. NCSR has worked closely with Bike/Ped Coalition as well as Families for Safe Streets to aid bicyclists and pedestrians. NCSR has worked closely with Advocates for Auto and Highway Safety to promote safe vehicle technologies. NCSR teamed with National Group GHSA to share best practices for DOTs around the country to implement automated enforcement. NCSR partnered with NASID in the World Day of Remembrance Campaign.
- Developed Speed, Red Light, School Bus public service announcements to utilize via social media to encourage best practices in order to save lives.
- https://ncsrsafety.org/national-school-bus-safety-week-2022/ NCSR participated in and led DC Advocacy Days for 3 days speaking with legislators on the importance of Automated Enforcement alongside other safety measures that would aid all road users and protect the most vulnerable; bicyclists and pedestrians, while educating the
