Program accomplishments

  • AT FORT MEIGS HISTORIC SITE, THE FIRST SIEGE OF 1813 COMES TO LIFE IN A POWERFUL, IMMERSIVE REENACTMENT THAT TRANSPORTS VISITORS TO ONE OF THE MOST PIVOTAL MOMENTS OF THE WAR OF 1812. VISITORS STEP INTO THE PAST, WALKING AMONG ENCAMPMENTS, WITNESSING BATTLE AND WEAPONS DEMONSTRATIONS, AND HEARING THE STORIES OF THOSE WHO PARTICIPATED THE SIEGE, BE THEY BRITISH, AMERICAN, OR AMERICAN INDIAN.
    Expenses $6,158 · revenue $127,059
  • 60 YEARS WAR FOR OHIO: AMERICAN REVOLUTION INVITES VISITORS TO STEP BACK TO THE VERY BEGINNINGS OF THE NATION AND EXPERIENCE THE STRUGGLE FOR INDEPENDENCE AS IT UNFOLDED IN OHIO IN THE 18TH CENTURY. VISITORS ENCOUNTER LOYALISTS AND CONTINENTAL SOLDIERS DRILLING ON THE PARADE GROUND, MUSKET AND ARTILLERY DEMONSTRATIONS, AND ENGAGING CONVERSATIONS ABOUT THE IDEALS AND UNCERTAINTIES THAT DEFINED THE REVOLUTIONARY ERA. CIVILIANS DEMONSTRATE PERIOD CRAFTS, COOKING, AND TRADE, OFFERING A GLIMPSE INTO HOW ORDINARY PEOPLE SUPPORTED THE WAR EFFORT.
    Expenses $3,505
  • GARRISON GHOST WALK OFFERS A CHILLING AFTER-DARK EXPERIENCE THAT BLENDS HISTORY WITH MYSTERY. GUIDED BY LANTERN LIGHT, VISITORS MOVE THROUGH THE SHADOWED FORT, STOPPING AT FLICKERING CAMPFIRES AND CANDLE-LIT BUILDINGS WHERE STORYTELLERS SHARE EERIE TALES OF EARLY OHIO AND THE WAR OF 1812. ROOTED IN TRUTH AND SHROUDED IN THE UNEXPLAINED, THE GHOST WALK INVITES GUESTS TO IMAGINE THE LIVES AND THE RESTLESS ECHOES OF THOSE WHO ONCE STOOD WITHIN THE WALLS OF FORT MEIGS.
