Mission

MW-Austin is a volunteer organization that raises funds to build 3 wheeled, hand powered vehicles (mobility carts) that are given to people who have lost the use of their legs due to polio, diabetes, birth defects, disease complications and accidents. The carts are sent to vetted NGO Distribution Partners in developing areas of the world and given to individuals at no cost. The manufacturing cost of the carts is estimated to be $400 per cart including raw materials, purchased parts and inbound shipping cost.

990-EZ for the year ended December 31, 2025

Program accomplishments

  • In July, a 40-foot container of 184 carts was shipped to the Somebody Cares Ministry in Lilongwe Malawi (in country NGO distribution partner). Fifteen carts were built in the Austin shop, and the balance came from shops in San Antonio, Columbia MO and West Michigan. The value of the carts is $400 (cost of materials to build and inbound shipping cost) and the shipping cost was $18,861.76 (cost of the container, shipping cost and crane rental to load the container on a truck taking it to the port) We raised the funds to cover the costs of our carts and the shipping container cost. The cost associated with the carts from the other shops will be reflected in their filings.
    Expenses $24,861
