Program accomplishments

  • Options Veterinary Care is a full-service clinic providing affordable veterinary care to pets who would otherwise suffer without it in Northern Nevada. Options services prevent the suffering of pets when the person who loves them is unable to afford needed veterinary care. Options services benefit low-income senior pet owners who rely on their pet for companionship and reduce the numbers of pets surrendered to animal shelters, reducing the strain on them by keeping pets with the people who love them and out of shelters. Over 8,200 pets received care in 2025.
    Expenses $1,943,737 · revenue $2,406,140
  • Animal shelter consulting, education and training: 2025 is the last year in which Humane Network provided these services which included the Animal Shelter Management Certificate Program offered through the University of the Pacific since 2013, which has since been given to Petco Love, another nonprofit entity in 2025. The extensive library of free resources, including recorded webinars, remain available for public use in the resources section of the Humane Network website.
    Expenses $82,318 · revenue $95,962
  • The Alive and Thriving Program provides training in animal behavior, safe/humane animal handling, stress reduction, and enrichment for pets in animal shelters to shelter staff across the country. The program director is a certified animal behaviorist through the international association of animal behavior consultants (IAABC) and is an expert in behavioral care for dogs and cats in shelters. The Alive and Thriving Program provides free seminars (in person and online), a free animal behavior guide for shelters (available online), consulting services, and the shelter animal behavioral certificate program through the University of the Pacific. Organizations that cannot afford consulting support are eligible to receive reduced cost or free services thanks to the generosity of donors. Over 750 people received training in 2025.
