990-EZ for the year ended June 30, 2025

Program accomplishments

  • WORKFORCE TRAINING: Using funds from the third year of a grant from the City, we contracted with Friends of Trees to provide work force training for students at an alternative high school, who are interested in the field of natural resources. Students learned basic information about watersheds. They learned specific skills related natural area restoration and enhancement. Students were also trained to serve as crew leaders for a restoration project in the park; they led volunteers who were planting and caring for native plants.
    Expenses $22,533
  • OUTREACH/STEWARDSHIP: FoGG continued a series of monthly stewardship events at the park, but changed them to Second Saturdays. continue to be disappointed in the turn-out. However, the three "special" stewardship days led by Friends of Trees and the high school students were well attended, with more than 50 people at each event. The Friends of Trees events were part of the contract with had with them as partners in one our grants. We will continue to try alternative ways to entice park users to participate in the monthly clean-up and weeding events.
    Expenses $257
  • RECREATION: The major event of the year for our organization was BMX Day at the park. This six hour event took place primarily in the bicycle skills section of the park includes several parallel bike jump lines, ranging from beginning to advanced. The event started with an hour set aside especially for youth, followed by an hour specifically for women riders. After that, riders of all ages were invited to participate. Approximately 120 bike riders participated. In addition, as part of a grant from the City, FoGG was able to provide a mountain-bike riding experience for a group of middle school students who had never had the opportunity before. FoGG contracted with the Northwest Trail Alliance (NWTA) to provide bikes and bike coaches for 11 students from a nearby middle school.
    Expenses $1,680
  • ENVIRONMENTAL ENHANCEMENT: Some environmental enhancement was done in the park, as part of the Workforce Training described earlier. The student-led crews planted nearly 1,000 native plants in the park. However, no additional funds were spent on this program activity.
  • ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION: Programs or activities designed to inform park users about environmental issues in the park, and in the community in general. FoGG did not hold any environmental education events at the park this year, so no funds were spent on this activity.
