Program accomplishments

  • Over the 2024 calendar year Gotham Roller Derby enjoyed a full return to in-person programming. Boot Camps, Basic Training, Junior Derby, and regular team in-person training programs resumed in March 2024. Three weeks of Juniors Summer Camp offered day camp programming to skaters ages 7 to 17 in August of 2024. Combined, basic training and junior programming consisted of nearly 200 skaters. Gothams home team game season hosted 5 ticketed bouts at Lakeside in Prospect Park, Brooklyn and hosted one exhibition game at the American Dream Mall in New Jersey. Gothams Travel Team participated in 4 tournaments in several states throughout the season along with one game hosted by Gotham at LeFrak.Additional league events included a Drink and Draw event in April, start of season party in June, and an end of season party hosted in December. Gotham participated in events to table and raise league awareness in May at a Daves Lesbian Bar event and in September at the dapperQ Fashion Show. Gotham league and community members also participated in the Pride Parade in June. A Flash Tattoo fundraiser was hosted in July to raise funds for the league. A regular schedule of league meetings was sustained with a mix of virtual and in person events, and Gotham's DEI committee remained active. An online merch store was set up by league members and was a great success in offering year round merch for sale. Online programming offered through the Twitch platform featured public streams of recorded game footage, live streams of 2024 season games, and other creative content.
