Mission

THE ORGANIZATION'S PRIMARY EXEMPT PURPOSE IS TO ENCOURAGE THE HEALING PROCESS THROUGH INVOLVEMENT IN SPIRITUAL, SOCIAL, EDUCATIONAL AND HEALTH-RELATED SERVICES IN RURAL JAMAICA.

990-EZ for the year ended December 31, 2025

Program accomplishments

  • Medical Physical Therapy Clinic: FORU supports ongoing physical therapy services provided by Dr. Brooke Riley, PT, DPT, and other visiting physical therapists in rural Jamaica. In July 2025, Dr. Derek Landis, PT, DPT, and Dr. Stephanie Landis, PT, DPT, joined Dr. Riley to help provide care for orthopedic and neurological diagnoses. In 2025, the FOR U staff completed 499 patient visits at the FOR U Rehabilitation Clinic. FOR U also completed 7 home visits throughout the parish of St. Elizabeth. Home visits allow us to better meet the needs of our patients by improving their functional mobility in the home and working on activities that are important to each patient/family. Home visits also allow for spiritual and emotional support for many families who are having difficulty coping with the multifaceted stresses that life-changing illness brings. FOR U conducted one intensive neurologic rehabilitation camp in 2025 and continued using our existing model, which consisted of five to seven full days of intensive neurologic rehabilitation where patients worked to improve their gait, balance, and arm/hand function. This model also allows for home modifications, community reintegration, and spiritual encouragement/support to best meet the needs of the people we serve. Pre/post testing was performed on the first and last days of the camp to measure overall functional change and the success of the camp. This program serves to further FOR U's exempt purposes by supporting charitable medical services to underserved populations. Our objective of improving the quality of life for the people we serve was met by improving functional mobility, providing spiritual/emotional support, modifying the home environment for easier access, and helping those we serve return to the activities they enjoy.
    Expenses $112,345 · grants $470
  • Hurricane Relief: In October 2025, Jamaica was severely affected by Hurricane Melissa with heavy damage on the western side of the island. FOR U served the community by hosting two volunteer disaster relief teams (God's Pit Crew and Hope Force International), which helped remodel homes that were damaged by the storm. Twelve families benefited from home renovations as their roofs were repaired and sealed from the rain. Food, water, and clothing were also packed and delivered to the Paretee Community by FORU employees and eleven Ridge Community volunteers. The FOR U physical therapy clinic also sustained damage, and local construction workers were hired to do the repairs. Six jobs were created for this project. This program serves to further FOR U's exempt purposes by offering assistance to underserved persons severely affected by Hurricane Melissa.
    Expenses $18,592 · grants $8,214
  • Community Aid and Outreach Ministry: Over the years, FOR U has carried out community outreach programs and services aligned with our mission and vision. In 2025, FOR U continued its weekly discipleship program, which includes Bible study, prayer, and worship for adults and children in the community. FOR U also provides transportation for people with limited mobility who were unable to attend discipleship due to these limitations. Over 100 Bibles were also given away to those in need. Thirty families benefited from this service. In July 2025, FORU hosted a week-long Vacation Bible school for twenty-five community children. FOR U also supported a single mom of two children to cover the cost of groceries. FOR U also covered the cost of two disabled men in a local nursing home. A Back-To-Work Program helped a Jamaican woman regain financial independence. These programs serve to further FORU's exempt purposes by supporting spiritual and social services for community youth and adults.
