Mission

Mainely Rat Rescue's mission is to rehabilitate and find homes for surrendered or abandoned domestic rats, as well as to spread awareness, provide education, and furnish support for all the animals in its care. Other "pocket pets" such as guinea pigs, hamsters, gerbils, and mice are occasionally accepted into the program.

990-EZ for the year ended December 31, 2025

Program accomplishments

  • Mainely Rat Rescue accepted into the program 561 small animals in 2025, with 480 adoptions to new homes completed. A large percentage of these animals were neutered or spayed while in the care of the rescue, as well as many having other medical and behavior issues addressed. We have again used our "Angel Fund" so that we are able to assist animals in need of medical care, while allowing them to stay with their owners.
