The organizations primary mission is to help pet owners make informed decisions and obtain medical care for their pets with cancer and geriatric issues. We do this through education programs and providing rants

990 for the year ended June 30, 2024

Program accomplishments

  • Companions In Crisis gives financial support for those who need cancer treatments for their dogs or cats. This program servs Washington D.C. Maryland, and Virginia residents. The process is relatively easy in that their treating veterinarian completes the medical application regarding treatment plan. It then goes to a medical board to be reviewed. We have parameters that we work within. If accepted, the client fills out the personal and financial part of the applicaion. Depending on their income and need we will award the owners between 20-40% of the costs. We pay this directly to the veterinary practice.
    Expenses $510,768
  • Our educational outreach is far and wide. We continue to see the information spreading all over the world expanding information about pet health and cancer warning signs and concerns. With our Lumps and Bumps clinics throughout Virginia and beyond. We are keeping pet owners aware of the benefits of early warning signs. Through our continuing education courses for veterinarians, we are keeping them informed on the latest infomration regarding pet cancer health and treatments as well as geriatric care.
    Expenses $178,111
  • Pixies Pen Pals is one of the longest running Prison Dog Training programs in the country. Shelter pups are housed and trained in three VA priosns. It is funded through the state of VA with an annual grant of $75,000.
