Mission

THE MISSION OF THE GO FUND IS TO PROVIDE VULNERABLE WOMEN AND CHILDREN IN AFRICA WITH THE SKILLS, RESOURCES AND OPPORTUNITIES THEY NEED TO LIFT THEMSELVES PERMANENTLY OUT OF POVERTY.

990 for the year ended December 31, 2024

Program accomplishments

  • THE GLOBAL OPPORTUNITY FUND (GO FUND) IS DEDICATED TO SERVING THE MOST VULNERABLE POPULATIONS IN AFRICA-ESPECIALLY WOMEN LIVING IN EXTREME POVERTY. WE BELIEVE THAT LASTING CHANGE BEGINS WITH EMPOWERING WOMEN, WHO ARE OFTEN THE PRIMARY STEWARDS OF THEIR FAMILIES' NUTRITIONAL, EDUCATIONAL, AND ECONOMIC WELL-BEING. ACROSS DIVERSE CULTURES AND COMMUNITIES, ONE TRUTH REMAINS CONSISTENT: WHEN WOMEN THRIVE, ENTIRE FAMILIES AND COMMUNITIES ARE LIFTED WITH THEM. YET, IN MANY PARTS OF THE DEVELOPING WORLD, PARTICULARLY IN AFRICA, WOMEN LACK ACCESS TO THE RESOURCES, TRAINING, AND AUTONOMY NEEDED TO IMPROVE THEIR QUALITY OF LIFE. THE GO FUND EXISTS TO CLOSE THIS GAP. WE DELIVER LOW-COST, HIGH-IMPACT PROGRAMS THAT EQUIP WOMEN WITH THE TOOLS, SKILLS, AND OPPORTUNITIES TO BECOME ECONOMICALLY SELF-SUFFICIENT. THROUGH STRONG LOCAL PARTNERSHIPS, WE IMPLEMENT INITIATIVES IN VOCATIONAL TRAINING, MATERNAL HEALTH, AGRICULTURE, AND MICRO-ENTERPRISE-EACH DESIGNED TO CREATE RIPPLE EFFECTS ACROSS GENERATIONS. OUR VILLAGE SAVINGS AND LOAN ASSOCIATION (VSLA) PROGRAMS GROW BY APPROXIMATELY 100 WOMEN EACH YEAR, WITH CURRENT PARTICIPATION REACHING AROUND 200. IN GHANA, OUR MATERNITY WARD NOW SERVES OVER 3,000 INDIVIDUALS IN A REMOTE COMMUNITY AND CAN ACCOMMODATE 8-10 PATIENTS AT A TIME, PROVIDING CRITICAL CARE TO MOTHERS AND NEWBORNS. OUR SEW FOR SISTERHOOD PROGRAM TRAINS APPROXIMATELY 50 YOUNG WOMEN ANNUALLY IN SEWING AND BEADWORK, OFFERING THEM BOTH A SKILLSET AND A PATHWAY TO INCOME GENERATION. ADDITIONALLY, OUR FARMING AND ENTREPRENEURIAL INSTITUTES-ONCE FULLY OPERATIONAL-ARE POISED TO DELIVER WIDESPREAD, LONG- TERM BENEFITS ACROSS THE COMMUNITIES THEY SERVE. OUR APPROACH IS BOTH STRATEGIC AND SUSTAINABLE. BY FOCUSING ON LOCAL OWNERSHIP AND LONG-TERM VIABILITY, WE WORK TO ENSURE THAT WOMEN AND CHILDREN CONTINUE TO RECEIVE SUPPORT-EVEN IN THE ABSENCE OF EXTERNAL AID. IN DOING SO, THE GO FUND AIMS NOT JUST TO ALLEVIATE POVERTY, BUT TO BREAK ITS CYCLE ENTIRELY.
