THIS ORGANIZATION WAS FORMED TO ADVANCE ECONOMIC SECURITY, WORKING CONDITIONS, AND TO ACT AS A REPRESENTATIVE OF EDUCATION EMPLOYEES IN MATTERS AFFECTING SCHOOLS TEACHERS UNION.
Program accomplishments
- THE EDUCATIONAL RESEARCH AND DISSEMINATION PROGRAM IS A PROFESSIONAL STAFF DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM CREATED BY THE FEDERATION OF TEACHERS TO GIVE IT'S MEMBERS THE LATEST IN CLASSROOM-BASED EDUCATIONAL RESEARCH ON EFFECTIVE TEACHING.
- THE AMERICAN FEDERATION OF TEACHERS HAS TRAINING SESSIONS FOR TEACHERS FROM AROUND THE COUNTRY. AFTER COMPLETING THIS TRAINING, THESE TEACHERS ARE ABLE TO CONDUCT TRAINING SESSIONS FOR OTHER TEACHERS/PARAPROFESSIONALS. ALSO INCLUDED ARE ORIENTATION PROGRAMS FOR ALL NEW EMPLOYEES AT THE START OF EACH SCHOOL YEAR PLUS A NEW TEACHER/EMPLOYEE INDUCTION PROGRAM WITH FOLLOW-UP SESSIONS DURING THE SCHOOL YEAR.
- THE ORGANIZATION NEGOTIATES AND ENFORCES COLLECTIVE BARGAINING AGREEMENTS.
