Mission

THE MISSION IS TO PERPETUATE THE NOBLE HERITAGE OF OUR FOREFATHERS AND FOSTER NORDIC CULTURAL ACTIVITIES BY ENCOURAGEMENT AND REPUTATION OF ITS PEOPLE. WE ARE A DISTRICT LODGE OF THE VASA ORDER OF AMERICA, A FRATERNAL SOCIETY ORIGINALLY ESTABLISHED FOR THE BENEFIT OF SWEDISH IMMIGRANTS MORE THAN A CENTURY AGO, BUT NOW DEDICATED TO PRESERVING AND SHARING OUR SWEDISH AND NORDIC CULTURE AND HERITAGE.

Program accomplishments

  • DUES AND ASSESSMENTS ARE USED TO PAY BENEFITS TO MEMBERS AND PROMOTE SOCIAL ANDINTELLECTUAL ACTIVITIES IN ORDER TO PRESERVE THE ETHNIC HERITAGE OF THE MEMBERS. ACTIVITIES OF THE ORGANIZATION INCLUDE ASSISTING YOUNGER GENERATIONS IN THE AIMS AND PURPOSES OF THE ORDER BY SUPPORTING THE INSTITUTION AND PROGRESS OF CHILDREN AND YOUTH CLUBS WITHIN THE ORDER. THE ORGANIZATION CREATES AND MAINTAINS FUNDS FOR FINANCIAL RELIEF TO MEMBERS IN NEED, THOSE ACTIVELY ENGAGED IN PURSUIT OF HIGHER EDUCATION, AND FOR USES TOWARDS CAUSES FOR THE BETTERMENT OF HUMAN LIFE AND EXISTENCE. THE ORGANIZATION HELPS TO MAINTAIN THE NATIONAL ARCHIVES. THE PURPOSE OF THE NATIONAL ARCHIVES IS FOR EDUCATIONAL, HISTORICAL AND RESEARCH; TO PRESERVE AND DISPLAY AND MAKE AVAILABLE RECORDS, DOCUMENTS, WORKS OF ART, SCIENCE, INVENTIONS AND MANUFACTURE BY PERSONS OF SWEDISH ANCESTRY AND TO PROMOTE PUBLIC KNOWLEDGE OF AN INTEREST IN THE HISTORY OF PERSONS OF SCANDINAVIAN AND PARTICULARLY SWEDISH ANCESTRY. THE MAIN PURPOSE IS TO PRESERVE THE RECORDS OF THE VASA ORDER OF AMERICA AND ITS MEMBERS. THERE IS A FAMILY REGISTER WHERE ALL VASA MEMBERS AND THEIR FAMILIES ARE CHRONICLED. THE COMPLETION OF THE REGISTER WILL BE AN IMPORTANT PHASE OF OUR ARCHIVE ACTIVITY. IT WILL SERVE FUTURE GENERATIONS IN THEIR SEARCH FOR ANCESTRY. RECORDS, MANUSCRIPTS AND LITERATURE ARE NOT PARTICULARLY EXCITING TO VIEW IF A PERSON IS NOT DIRECTLY INTERESTED IN RESEARCHING SUCH MATERIAL. AS OF THE CONVENTION, THE ORGAINZATION HAD 732 MEMBERS. 67 OF THESE MEMBERS WERE DELEGATES AND OFFICERS FROM THE FAMILY REGISTER.
