Program accomplishments

  • PROMOTE AND GENERATE INTERNATIONAL COMMERCE AND JOBS IN WESTERN MISSOURI AND EASTERN KANSAS AND TO OPERATE FOREIGN TRADE ZONES AND SUBZONES. THE GREATER KANSAS CITY FOREIGN TRADE ZONE IS THE GRANTEE OF THE FTZ 15 AND FTZ 17. THE GREATER KC FOREIGN TRADE ZONE HAD AN ACTIVE YEAR WORKING WITH KC BASED COMPANIES INTERESTED IN THE FOREIGN TRADE ZONE PROGRAM AS A RESULT OF INCREASED TARIFFS ON IMPORTS INTO THE UNITED STATES. THE YEAR SAW OVER 40 NEW PROSPECTS INQUIRE ABOUT THE PROGRAM WITH THE ORGANIZATION PROVIDING DIRECT RESPONSE AND ASSISTANCE TO THESE COMPANIES. THE PROGRAM YEAR RESULTED IN FIVE NEW OPERATORS AND TWO ADDITIONAL COMPANIES IN THE PROCESS OF BEING FULLY ACTIVATED.
