Mission

OUR MISSION IS TO HELP WOMEN AND GIRLS SUCCESSFULLY NAVIGATE LIFE'S TRANSITIONS AND INSPIRE OTHERS TO DO THE SAME. BY PROVIDING RESOURCES, TOOLS AND SUPPORT FOR TODAY, WE CREATE HOPE FOR TOMORROW.

990 for the year ended June 30, 2025

Program accomplishments

  • FISCAL YEAR 2025 (FY25) MARKED A YEAR OF GROWTH, COMMUNITY IMPACT, AND CELEBRATION AS THE WOMEN'S RESOURCE CENTER (WRC) COMMEMORATED ITS 50TH ANNIVERSARY OF EMPOWERING WOMEN AND GIRLS ACROSS GREATER PHILADELPHIA. CLIENT ENGAGEMENT GREW IN SEVERAL KEY PROGRAM AREAS, AND WRC EXPANDED ITS REACH THROUGH NEW SCHOOL PARTNERSHIPS, DEEPENED VOLUNTEER NETWORKS, AND RECORD-BREAKING FUNDRAISING EVENTS. OVER 3,500 CONNECTIONS TO WOMEN AND GIRLS WERE MADE DURING THE YEAR TO HELP OVERCOME LIFE'S CHALLENGES. INFORMATION & REFERRAL HELPLINE RESPONDED TO 785 CALLS AND EMAILS IN FY25. THE HELPLINE SERVES AS A GATEWAY TO LOCAL RESOURCES AS WELL AS TO WRC'S PROGRAMS AND SERVICES, AND IS STAFFED BY TRAINED VOLUNTEERS UNDER THE GUIDANCE OF WRC'S HELPLINE COORDINATOR. THE TOP REASONS FOR CALLING INCLUDED FAMILY LAW ISSUES, ABUSE, HOUSING, MENTAL HEALTH, AND BASIC SERVICES. APPROXIMATELY 90.4% OF HELPLINE CALLERS ARE CONSIDERED LOW INCOME BY HUD STANDARDS, WITH AN AVERAGE CALLER AGE OF 57. COUNSELING SERVICES DELIVERED 2,191 COUNSELING SESSIONS IN FY25, AN INCREASE FROM 2,033 IN FY24. SESSIONS ARE PROVIDED ON A SLIDING SCALE BASIS, WITH THE MAJORITY AT LOW COST OR FREE TO CLIENTS. THE PROGRAM EMPHASIZES BUILDING RESILIENCE AND A SENSE OF AGENCY, WHICH ARE ESSENTIAL IN NAVIGATING LIFE TRANSITIONS. MEASURED OUTCOMES DEMONSTRATED STRONG CLIENT PROGRESS: 77% OF CLIENTS FELT BETTER OR MUCH BETTER ABOUT THEIR SENSE OF SELF-WORTH; 78% FELT BETTER OR MUCH BETTER ABOUT THEIR ABILITY TO BOUNCE BACK AFTER A DIFFICULT EVENT; 80% FELT BETTER OR MUCH BETTER ABOUT THEIR ABILITY TO ADDRESS THEIR OWN EMOTIONAL NEEDS; 74% FELT BETTER OR MUCH BETTER ABOUT THEIR ABILITY TO MANAGE DIFFICULT RELATIONSHIPS; AND 65% FELT BETTER OR MUCH BETTER ABOUT THEIR ABILITY TO ADDRESS FUTURE LIFE CHALLENGES. FINANCIAL STABILITY PROVIDED 257 SESSIONS IN FY25, INCLUDING FINANCIAL COACHING, CAREER COACHING, AND THE CONTINUED 18-MONTH PHEBE GROUP COHORT. PHEBE (PERSISTENCE, HOPE AND ENDURANCE IN OVERCOMING BARRIERS TO EQUITY) FOCUSES ON BUILDING AWARENESS AND UNDERSTANDING OF AGENCY AND RESILIENCE IN THE FACE OF STRUCTURAL BARRIERS. THE PROGRAM IS SUPPORTED BY 11 VOLUNTEER FINANCIAL COACHES, 6 VOLUNTEER CAREER COACHES, AND A NETWORK OF PRO BONO FINANCIAL SERVICE PROFESSIONALS. FAMILY LAW PROGRAM DELIVERED 516 TOTAL FAMILY LAW CONSULTATIONS AND REFERRALS IN FY25, AN INCREASE FROM 497 IN FY24. THE PROGRAM PROVIDES HALF-HOUR CONSULTATIONS WITH PRO BONO VOLUNTEER ATTORNEYS ON DIVORCE, CUSTODY AND SUPPORT MATTERS, OFFERED VIRTUALLY SEVERAL TIMES PER MONTH AT A NOMINAL COST. IN JANUARY 2025, COORDINATION OF THE PROGRAM TRANSITIONED FROM VOLUNTEER ATTORNEY KIM DUDICK TO WRC STAFF, STRENGTHENING THE ORGANIZATION'S INTERNAL CAPACITY TO MANAGE AND GROW THE PROGRAM. WRC ALSO PROVIDES REFERRALS TO AFFILIATE ATTORNEYS WHO OFFER ONE-TIME CONSULTATIONS AT NO COST OR REDUCED RATES, AND PUBLISHES A GUIDE TO FAMILY LAW IN PENNSYLVANIA TO HELP CLIENTS UNDERSTAND LEGAL PROCESSES. GIRLS LEAD EXPANDED SIGNIFICANTLY IN FY25, SERVING 364 PARTICIPANTS ACROSS 25 PARTICIPATING SCHOOLS IN BUCKS, CHESTER, DELAWARE, MONTGOMERY, AND PHILADELPHIA COUNTIES, COMPARED TO 275 PARTICIPANTS ACROSS 23 COHORTS IN FY24. THE 16-SESSION CURRICULUM FOCUSES ON FOUR ESSENTIAL LEADERSHIP SKILLS: COMMUNICATION, CONFLICT RESOLUTION, DECISION MAKING, AND PROBLEM SOLVING. THE YEAR CONCLUDED WITH A GIRLS LEAD CONFERENCE HELD IN MAY 2025 AT THE DREXELBROOK IN DREXEL HILL WITH OVER 365 PARTICIPANTS. MEASURED OUTCOMES SHOWED 80% OF PARTICIPANTS IMPROVED THEIR COMMUNICATION SKILLS, 75% IMPROVED CONFLICT RESOLUTION SKILLS, 71% IMPROVED PROBLEM-SOLVING SKILLS, AND 67% IMPROVED DECISION-MAKING SKILLS.
