THE PURPOSE OF THIS NURSEY SCHOOL SHALL BE TO ENCOURAGE CHILDREN, WHOSE AGE FITS THE DETERMINED AGE RANGE TO DEVELOP IN THE FOLLOWING AREAS: SOCIAL ADJUSTMENTS THROUGH ACTIVITY AND PLANNING, HEALTH AND SAFTEY HABITS, ACADEMIC READINESS AND MOTOR SKILLS.
Program accomplishments
- YOUNG 3'S PROGRAMWE WANT YOUR CHILD'S FIRST EXPOSURE TO SCHOOL TO BE A POSITIVE EXPERIENCE THAT SETS THE TONE FOR A LIFETIME OF LEARNING. THE YOUNG 3'S PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS THIS JOY OF LEARNING. IN ADDITION, AGE APPROPRIATE SOCIAL SKILLS ARE EMPHASIZED, INCLUDING TAKING TURNS AND SHARING, LEARNING ABOUT FRIENDSHIP, AND USING KIND WORDS.DURING THIS YEAR, COLORS, SHAPES, AND LETTER AND NUMBER RECOGNITION IS INTRODUCED. FINE MOTOR SKILLS ARE HONED WITH ART PROJECTS AND CRAFTS THAT ARE BASED ON HOLIDAYS AND SEASONS. LARGE MOTOR SKILLS ARE DEVELOPED THROUGH OUTSIDE PLAYGROUND PLAY AND INDOOR ACTIVITIES WITH THE PARACHUTE, TUNNELS, AND LISTEN AND MOVE ACTIVITIES.PARENTS ARE ENCOURAGED TO BRING THE FUN FROM SCHOOL HOME! EVERY MONTH, THE CHILDREN LEARN A NEW SET OF SONGS AND PARENTS RECEIVE THE WORDS SO THEY CAN SING ALONG. THREE-YEAR-OLD PROGRAMWE CONTINUE THE SOCIAL AND ACADEMIC SKILLS INTRODUCED IN THE YOUNG 3'S PROGRAM. FOR NEW STUDENTS, WE STRIVE TO MAKE THE CHILD'S FIRST SCHOOL EXPERIENCE A POSITIVE AND ENJOYABLE ONE WHILE CREATING A SAFE PLACE FOR LEARNING AND MAKING FRIENDS. SOCIALIZATION IS PARTICULARLY STRESSED, INCLUDING INSTILLING THE VALUES OF FRIENDSHIP, SHARING, AND KINDNESS.THROUGH ARTS AND CRAFTS AND USING EXAMPLES FROM THE ENVIRONMENT AROUND US, WE EMPHASIZE LETTER AND NUMBER RECOGNITION ALONG WITH SHAPES AND COLORS. EVERY DAY AT CIRCLE TIME WE GO AROUND THE ROOM TO EACH CHILD AND IDENTIFY COLORS ON THEIR CLOTHING AND LOOK AROUND THE ROOM TO IDENTIFY SHAPES. THE SEASONS AND THE CALENDAR ARE DISCUSSED, INCLUDING DAYS OF THE WEEK, MONTHS, YEAR.CHILDREN ALSO LEARN A NEW SET OF SONGS EACH MONTH TO CELEBRATE THE HOLIDAYS AND THE SEASONS. ALONG WITH THE SONGS, CHILDREN ENTHUSIASTICALLY USE FINGER PLAY AND HAND MOTIONS TO INCORPORATE LARGE MOTOR SKILLS INTO THE FUN. LARGE MOTOR SKILLS ARE DEVELOPED THROUGH PLAYING AT THE PLAYGROUND, CLIMBING THROUGH TUNNELS, AND PLAYING WITH THE PARACHUTE, OBSTACLE COURSE, AND SCOOTERS.FOUR-YEAR-OLD PROGRAMWE PROVIDE CHILDREN WITH A LOVING AND NURTURING ATMOSPHERE THAT FOSTERS SOCIAL SKILLS OF RESPECT, MANNERS, AND FRIENDLINESS. IN THIS CARING SOCIAL FOUNDATION, THE CHILDREN EAGERLY LEARN LIFE AND ACADEMIC SKILLS. THEY'LL ALSO LEARN THEIR PHONE NUMBERS AND ADDRESSES AND HOW TO WRITE THEIR NAMES, ALPHABET, AND NUMBERS. WE FOCUS ON LEARNING THROUGH PLAY, PROMOTING IMAGINATION AND CREATIVITY BALANCED WITH STRUCTURE.LUNCH BUNCH PROGRAMTHE EAST HANOVER COOPERATIVE NURSERY SCHOOL IS NOW OFFERING A LUNCH BUNCH PROGRAM IN ADDITION TO THE EXISTING 3'S CLASS. THE TEACHER IS JENNIFER KNAPP. JENNIFER EARNED HER ASSOCIATE'S DEGREE FROM ESSEX COUNTY COLLEGE IN EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION, AND A BACHELOR'S DEGREE IN GENERAL HUMANITIES FROM MONTCLAIR STATE UNIVERSITY.
