Mission

TO PROMOTE THE HIGHEST STANDARDS OF NURSING PRACTICE BY EDUCATING ITS PRACTITIONERS, PROMOTING RESEARCH AND ENCOURAGING EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION BETWEEN ORTHOPAEDIC NURSES AND OTHER GROUPS WITH SIMILAR INTERESTS. NAON CONSISTS OF MORE THAN 4,000 REGISTERED, LICENSED PRACTICAL, LICENSED VOCATIONAL, AND STUDENT NURSES, AS WELL AS AFFILIATE MEMBERS FROM ACROSS THE COUNTRY AND AROUND THE WORLD WHO SHARE AN INTEREST IN MUSCULOSKELETAL HEALTHCARE.

  • ANNUAL CONGRESS - NAON HOLDS AN ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING TO EDUCATE AND INFORM MEMBERS ON THE LATEST DEVELOPMENTS IN THE FIELD OF ORTHOPAEDIC NURSING. IN DOING SO, NAON SEEKS TO IMPLEMENT PRACTICE CHANGES BASED ON EVIDENCE-BASED PRACTICE, PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND RESEARCH IN THE CARE OF THE ORTHOPAEDIC PATIENT; IMPACT PATIENT OUTCOMES THROUGH ADOPTION OF BEST PRACTICES AND INNOVATION; AND CONTRIBUTE TO A PROFESSIONAL ENVIRONMENT THAT ENCOURAGES COLLEGIALITY AND NETWORKING AMONG PARTICIPANTS ASSOCIATED WITH ADVANCEMENT IN ORTHOPAEDIC NURSING EDUCATION, PRACTICE, AND RESEARCH.
  • JOURNAL - NAON PUBLISHES ORTHOPAEDIC NURSING, A BI-MONTHLY INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL PROVIDING CONTINUING EDUCATION FOR ORTHOPAEDIC NURSES, FOCUSING ON A WIDE VARIETY OF CLINICAL SETTINGS INCLUDING HOSPITAL UNITS, PHYSICIAN'S OFFICES, AMBULATORY CARE CENTERS, EMERGENCY ROOMS, OPERATING ROOMS, REHABILITATION FACILITIES, COMMUNITY SERVICE PROGRAMS, CLIENT HOMES, AND MORE. THE JOURNAL PROVIDES DEPARTMENTAL SECTIONS ON CURRENT EVENTS, ORGANIZATIONAL ACTIVITIES, RESEARCH, PRODUCT AND DRUG INFORMATION, AND LITERATURE FINDINGS, WITH ARTICLES REFLECTING A COMMITMENT TO PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND THE NURSING PROFESSION AS WELL AS CLINICAL, ADMINISTRATIVE, ACADEMIC, AND RESEARCH AREAS OF THE ORTHOPAEDIC SPECIALTY.
  • EDUCATION - UNDER NAON'S DIRECTOR OF EDUCATION, NAON PROVIDES A VARIETY OF WAYS FOR MEMBERS TO CONTINUE THEIR EDUCATION AND DEVELOP AS ORTHOPAEDIC PROFESSIONALS, INCLUDING VARIOUS PRODUCTS, PUBLICATIONS, AND ONLINE EDUCATION COURSES.
