Mission

The Phoenicia Playhouse is a performing arts organization that strengthens, invigorates and promotes the Catskills community. Our mission is three-fold: We produce shows, provide a venue for other shows and events, and create educational opportunities through youth and adult workshops. We are committed to drawing residents (full-time and part-time) and travelers together through the experience of the arts. Community is the most important part of Community Theater.

990-EZ for the year ended December 31, 2025

Program accomplishments

  • In 2025, we reached about 4,200 people through our theatrical productions (Respect, Bye Bye Birdie, Little Shop of Horrors), summer workshops for children (songwriting and make-a-play), films (from community-based documentaries to Hollywood), new works readings, and community gatherings (open mic nights, a comedy night, local historical films, community organization offerings, and industry-night entertainment for the local hospitality workers). As the new home of Flying Cat Music, we offered nine live concerts showcasing the finest in Americana, singer-songwriters, bluegrass and contemporary folk music. We continued our efforts to upgrade our sound system, installed a new emergency generator, and began upgrading our heating system to provide a more comfortable entertainment environment.
