Mission
THE THIRD DISTRICT COURT OF APPEAL HISTORICAL SOCIETY WAS FORMED FOR A VERY IMPORTANT PURPOSE: TO COMMEMORATE AND PRESERVE THE COURT'S HISTORY. SPECIFICALLY, THE SOCIETY'S MISSION IS TO PRESERVE THE COURT'S HISTORICAL RECORDS; TO CREATE FURTHER RECORDS, IN PRINT AND ELECTRONIC MEDIA; TO DOCUMENT THE HISTORY AND ACHIEVEMENTS OF THE COURT; AND TO EDUCATE THE PUBLIC ABOUT THE WORKINGS OF THE COURT AND THE JUDICIAL SYSTEM.
Program accomplishments
- THE THIRD DCA HISTORICAL SOCIETY SUPPORTS AND HONORS THE EFFORTS OF THE MEMBERS OF THE JUDICIARY WHO HAVE SERVED ON THE THIRD DISTRICT COURT OF APPEAL. WE PARTICIPATE IN HOSTING CHANGING OF THE GAVEL CEREMONIES, INVESTITURES OF NEWLY APPOINTED APPELLATE JUDGES, AND HOLD A BIENNIAL LUNCHEON WITH THE JUDGES AND MEMBERS OF THE APPELLATE BAR. WE ALSO PROVIDE IN MEMORIAM DONATIONS FOR JUDGES WHO HAVE SERVED ON THE COURT AND PASSED AWAY.Expenses $9,794
