Program accomplishments
- OUR PROGRAMS HELP TEENS AND YOUNG ADULTS SUFFERING FROM MENTAL HEALTH PROBLEMS.IN 2024, YOUNG ADULTS AND TEENS CONTINUE TO SUFFER FROM A MENTAL HEALTH CRISIS IN THE US INCLUDING ALARMING INCREASES IN DEPRESSION, ANXIETY AND SUICIDAL THOUGHTS AMONG YOUNG PEOPLE. ACCORDING TO THE NIMH, "AN ESTIMATED 49.5% OF ADOLESCENTS HAVE A MENTAL DISORDER, AND OF THESE ADOLESCENTS, AN ESTIMATED 22.2% HAD SEVERE IMPAIRMENT AND/OR DISTRESS. SUICIDE IS THE SECOND LEADING CAUSE OF DEATH AMONG INDIVIDUALS BETWEEN THE AGES OF 10-14 AND 25-34, AND THE THIRD LEADING CAUSE OF DEATH AMONG INDIVIDUALS BETWEEN THE AGES OF 15-24." UNFORTUNATELY, A NATIONWIDE SHORTAGE OF MENTAL HEALTH PROFESSIONALS EXISTS IN THE US, SO MANY STUDENTS SUFFER ALONE INCREASING THEIR RISK OF SUICIDE. OUR 1024 MOVEMENT PROGRAMS ARE ACTIVELY PREVENTING MENTAL HEALTH PROBLEMS AND SUICIDE AMONG YOUNG PEOPLE IN THE US. OUR MINISTRY CONNECTS STUDENTS TO PSYCHIATRISTS, ONLINE COUNSELORS, PEER MENTORS, FAITH COMMUNITIES AND MENTAL HEALTH RESOURCES. IN 2024, WE PUBLISHED A NEW BOOK, "LIFELINE: HELP IN A MENTAL HEALTH CRISIS" WHICH EDUCATES, EQUIPS, AND EMPOWERS HURTING STUDENTS REGARDING MENTAL HEALTH PROBLEMS AND THEN CONNECTS TO MENTAL HEALTH RESOURCES AND SPIRITUAL SUPPORT. OUR LIFELINES TRAINING PROGRAMS ARE EQUIPPING STUDENTS AT SCHOOLS, COLLEGES, AND CHURCHES TO RECOGNIZE, REACH OUT AND CONNECT PEERS SUFFERING FROM MENTAL HEALTH PROBLEMS TO HELP INCLUDING CRISIS COUNSELING, MENTAL HEALTH PROFESSIONALS, PEER SUPPORT GROUPS, CHURCHES, COMMUNITY GROUPS AND ADDICTION RECOVERY PROGRAMS. OUR 1024 MOVEMENT SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORM CONNECTS HURTING STUDENTS TO ONLINE MENTAL HEALTH RESOURCES INCLUDING CRISIS TEXT LINE, TALKSPACE, ONLINE PSYCHIATRISTS, AA RECOVERY GROUPS AND PEER MENTORS. WE GAVE AWAY OVER 500 FREE BOOKS EDUCATING TEENS AND COLLEGE STUDENTS INCLUDING "LIFELINE: HELP IN A MENTAL HEALTH CRISIS", "SHUT UP: SILENCE THE NEGATIVE THOUGHTS INSIDE YOUR HEAD AND "GOD IS WHISPERING TO YOU". OUR OUTREACH THIS YEAR INCLUDED SPEAKING ENGAGEMENTS IN SCHOOLS, MENTAL HEALTH CONFERENCES, COLLEGES, CHURCHES AND PARENT MEETINGS. NHPM PRESIDENT REV. CHRISTY PIERCE PROVIDED PASTORAL COUNSELING TO OVER 40 TEENS, YOUNG ADULTS AND PARENTS BY CONNECTING THEM TO ERS, PSYCHIATRISTS, THERAPISTS AND MENTAL HEALTH RESOURCES.
