990-EZ for the year ended August 31, 2025

Program accomplishments

  • The Norwood Village Green Concert Series' 52nd Annual Season began on May 28, 2025 and completed its programming activities on September 14, 2025. The season was extended to September with a Jazz in the 'Wood Festival for the benefit of North Country Public Radio.
  • SERIES HIGHLIGHTS " 123 Andrs was the perfect school program, especially for pre-school and early elementary children. The workshops were well done culminating in a spectacular assemble/performance that left nothing to be desired. These 2 gifted performers were just what the doctor ordered for our times and gave real witness and meaning to pre school through 3rd grade students. It is no wonder that this husband/wife duo received the 2025 Grammy for Best Children's Recording." Bindelstiff Family CirKus was well attended by families and the program afforded lots of family togetherness and activity." Rounding out the series youth programming the St. Lawrence County Music Educators annual event continued." Continuing its historical inclusion of local and regional musicians the series presented close to 200 local musicians in various groups and settings from the 19 in the Jazz Fest to members of Northern Symphonic Winds, Northbound, participants in Norwoodstock, Bluebird, Double Axel, The Old Time Fiddle Show, Sister Cinnamon, Whiskey Room, New Horizons Swing Band, and others." The Gigilo Aunts brought former students and parents to an event that warmed their hearts. The concert was not part of the schedule or the budget. The concert more than paid for itself. The pass the bucket was $2.609 and our expenses were less than $1,300. " Las Guaracheras - Not only was the concert great, so was the effort to get all of the instruments necessary - Thanks to Peter McCoy and all others. Thanks to Jonathan Pabis. We shared NNCS's vibraphone with Lake Placid the next night. " The Jazz in the 'Wood benefit for North Country Public Radio yielded great public vibes for the series as did the Brass Firemen and the Norwoodstock events." The return to family programming outdoors - See Bindelstiff." The continuing mission of presenting music from around the world with LauraB from Spain, and Las Guaracheras and 123 Andrs from Colombia. The Series has now presented performers from 29 foreign countries." The continuing mission of presenting outstanding guest artists for the All Star Big Band directed by Wally Siebel. This year's guest artist Jim Hynes, trumpeter filled that bill beautifully. " The tradition of going back to outstanding past performers, This year it was done by the return of Sue Foley for her third performance for the Series. Sue was nominated for 2025 Grammy in the category of Traditional Blues. The series has presented 31 Grammy Award winners and an even greater number of Grammy nominees. The opportunity for local high school musician Nicole White to open the concert for a Grammy nominated musician was priceless. Sue was outstanding and so was Nicole." The return and presentation of Shavon Lloyd the day after he received SUNY, Potsdam's Rising Star Award was both rewarding and skillfully handled by all involved. A quadruple treat, Shavon excels in performance, conducting, composing, and teaching.
